Question from an aging newbie...
Hi guys, nice to meet you all, aging ex A500/A1200 owner just stumbled across you.
I have a couple of questions maybe you can help me with if I may. I got my A500 in '87 paying 100 quid over the odds for it and travelling the length of UK too, I'm not complaining of course, 'cept that I don't have it anymore Well my first question is about one of the demo disks that came with it. It was a digitised song on the floppy disk, French song sung by a French bird if I recall. I've been racking my brain for years trying to remember it and it's always on the tip of my tongue, but to no avail. Does anyone remember this song/singer? (I realise I'm going back a bit.) The next question is does anyone remember Tony Thompson Services? He was a public domain supplier who was in Outer Hebrides. I supplied him with some source code and simple assembler demos using the "A68k" assembler (if anyone remembers it), obviously many years ago too. Thanks for any help in advance and thanks even if no one remembers. (I have a few more questions too if you'll indulge me, but maybe next time.) Have a good one all, and greetings from Bangkok. Ant. |

Oh no it was well before that I think (and a much better song). I'd never heard it before nor since (google didn't help). It's still on the tip of my tongue. I've only ever heard it as a demo of digitised sound of the A500. But, thanks anyway. Surely someone will remember it.

That French song isn't anything to do with 'Voyage Voyage' by Desireless is it?

Thanks mate, but no it's not that song. It was defintely a French woman singing a French song. It played when the disk was inserted and I got it with the A500 when I got it. I remember it opened an orange screen with a little text and played (not clearly by today's standards), but at the time it was jaw-dropping.

If I rack my brain, I recall her first name was maybe 3 syllables and her surname was 1 or 2 syllables. I think if you didn't actually get this disk when you bought your A500, you probably wouldn't know it, but it was French. I'm sure that someone will remember it though, cos I couldn't have been the only one to get it. I got my A500 in '87. It was one of the first in UK. anyone else who got one around that time might remember it. Many grateful thanks for everyone's efforts. Ant. |
