PCMCIA slot issues

Hello

I am running a A1200 with a ACA1234 (33Mhz) 3.2Roms with OS3.2, my problem is that when I try to use the PCMCIA slot with a Sandisk 4gb card to transfer data, I can open the card and select the files however when I try to open or unpack a file I get "ERROR: Archive corrupt"

I have now Installed 3.0Roms, (no ACA1234 expansion in trapdoor) installed original HDD (formatted) with a fresh copy of workbench 3.0, installed PCMCIA<>CF ADAPTER software and have the same fault but with "error code 20"?

I have tried the same PCMCIA adapter and CF card in my A600 and it works perfectly. Have also tried different adapters and CF cards with the same results.

Does anyone have any suggestions is there a fault on my motherboard? is the PCMCIA slot itself faulty? The pins appears to not be damaged.

Help please

I guess the buffer chips are U43, U45, U46, U47?

There was some green fuzz on U43 which I cleaned off, If they are the buffer chips I will replace them.

Yes, these are the ones. That corrosion might be our smoking gun. You ought to check those vias around them for continuity as well.

Have you got Cardpatch and Cardreset in your Startup-sequence?

http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/CardPatch

http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/CardReset

What are you using to read the contents of the card? I.e FAT95?

http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/fat95

Is the card formatted in windows as Fat16 or FAT32? Or are you using something different?

Mainboard revision is?

If 1D4 or 2B Commodore, has it had the timing fixes done? I.e E123c/r and E125c/r removed?

Pins in the PCMCIA in good condition? No bent pins?

No corrosion on the Gayle chip pins? Anything plugged over Gayle? FASTATA adapter for example?

Mainboard been recapped? If not any sign of leaking caps on originals?

Have you tested the CIA chips with AmigaTestKit?

Thanks for your reply, board been recapped, buffer chips replaced used multiple cards and adapters have used both Fat32 and Fat16, used two different software apps (bought not downloaded) see the first post.
I will test the CIA's with Amiga TestKit.... as it's the last thing to check..

As daft as it sounds. Also run an extensive RAM test (Both Chip and fast) as you never know Bromigo!
