Made an old-skool demo!

I (badly) drew a logo and cobbled together several of my routines into an old skool demo and with music playing too!

Source code attached.

Yeah, I know. Lame design. Lame graphics. But it works and I'm pretty chuffed.

Gotta say thanks to anyone (especially StingRay ) who's ever helped me on here - I could never have done something like this without you guys!

Now I want to learn more effects and try to do something nicer.

Compiled and ASM == always makes me chuckle. Anyway, I assembled it, binary attached to this post. Handle with care, not tested at all.

Note to myself : ASM = assembled
Works fine on WinUAE with a A500 quickstart. Not bad pmc The music is quite lame, but the effect in the middle (I better not try to name it ) is nice.

It's rather short, but cool I guess, you can really feel the magic of the first Amiga demos

What are you saying about my code? Actually, come to think of it, I agree - let's hope it doesn't blow up anyones machine.

ROFL! No, not in this case! pmc are my initials, if you wanna know what they stand for then check my email address listed in the credits in the source code listing.

LOL. Thankfully that's something I didn't make myself, again, check the credits for who did.

Of course you do realize I gave you my credit trust on that one, as I never before seen your works, and will not fall for it for the second time?
That means your next demo must be 2 times longer and consist of 2 more effects!

Although the intro is quite lame design wise (as was most shit in 1987), I surprisingly like the logo.

Given me a bit of a bug to do something now!

No argument there. Hence my 'groups' slogan - code from 1987, today.

Nice one. Amazing what 10 minutes with DPaint can do. It must be a great paint package if it can make someone like my artwork!

If all my lame old attempt does is get a new prod from Fairlight then it will have been worth it.

Go for it Galahad! - that would be cool.

No need to roll eyes, so far I didn't find any "compile" option in AsmOne...

Didn't check the source yet, I just assembled(!) it and uploded the binary as I was still at work.

I think "lame" is a bit harsh, IMHO it's old-fashioned style but I wouldn't call it lame. Quite 1988/89 like (logo, effect, scroller) design.

I just checked it here and I think it's quite OK for a first demo! I've seen much worse!

I didn't say the demo was lame, I said the design was lame, as most typical crap was in 1987... though obviously the plasma was very un-1987

Nice one man. I've watched some of your prods and coming from you that means a lot.

No worries Galahad. I know what you meant and to be honest, I agree. Really I just threw effects together to see if I could get several things running all at once. No design involved = lame design.

@ Skan - I think the main thing is that you've taken the time to try and code. If you enjoy it, cool. You should post your stuff. I wanna see it too!

Can I ask I totally random and unrelated question?

When you guys do quotes in your posts you always have a nice: "Originally posted by". How do I do that? I always end up just sticking quote tags around pasted text and it comes out like my quotes in this thread...
