Unhappy Well, so long dear Mega Drive

Today is expected to be the day my sis sends off our wonderful Mega Drive (which we've possessed since the winter end of '92) and I for one feel depressed and shattered. It was put up for auction on eBay last week and someone has officially bought it.

She and my 'rents say "we need to make more room in the house", "we need less clutter" and "you barely ever touched the thing in recent months" etc etc etc. But I don't care, it's a part of my gaming history, I really do feel like a part of me is being ripped out. Plus, Virtua Racing is the one MD game in my collection that I can only play on the actual machine (how I wish someone is actually working on emulating this!).

I do feel somewhat angry about all this - I wonder whether I should boycott all Genesis/MD emulators in protest...

They are right, if you would have played with it instead of using a lameulator, this would have not happened!

If you don't have the systems all setup, and unless you live in a rathole, space is no friggin concern. As Djay said, an MD doesn't take ANY important space at all.

It is your fault for lameulating MarZ. This is the punishment that the siliconHeavens throw upon lameulaters

Thou shall not lameulate, for it is mucho forbidden, and a disrespect to ye gods Sinclair, Miner et al

As Amiga Preacher I'll make that statement official and include it the holy and sacred book of retromania.

Ever thought about becoming a preacher too Akira? The pays crap however, you speak wise words, not as wise as mine, but wise nonetheless.

Would'nt that be biting your nose to spite your face??
I don't see why people remain so emotionally attached to computers and such when emulators are far more efficient and work almost as well if no better in most cases.
Illogical.

don't get me wrong...

i have the REAL thing... check out the features page at my website....
but...
i'm planning on getting a PC cube rigged up to my TV...
kinda like... http://www.tech-report.com/reviews/2...4/index.x?pg=1

it will have...
P4 2.0ghz processor
80gb HD
64mb geforce 4
513mb DDR RAM
DVD+-R/RW
USB TV Tuner
Cordless kb/mouse
Cordless Joypad

it will be stuck behind the tv...

i'll put Amiga, MD, Snes, N64, PSX emulators and software on, along with some PC games, a large amount of music which i'll create playlists for (chill-out, party, dance, mix, etc... etc) it will connect to BB using a router aswell... it will be great

Shame to see you sell your megadrive when you did not want to

I've got some megadrive's you can have.

I love my megadrive and would never part with it no matter how good some emulator gets.

Unless your really in a financial jam I say keep all your "things" because you generally dont get any real money for them.

I have known quite a few people who get some money, buy all kinds of cool things, and then sell them for next to nothing a year later because they are short term tapped out and then buy them again a few months later at full price. I got a real nice pool stick (way back when I actually played) for $50 off a friend who paid $400 for it while I was with him at the store (he set the price I didnt).

I'm comparing experiences
The experience of using a real old computer versus the experience of lameulating one in your platform of choice. And with the (extreme, I know!) example of car racing, I demonstrated how this is to me. If it's not in you, you won't understand it, I can't do anything about that, but show you what it means to me. You are free to understand it, or to keep thinking I am "wrong" and I'm "illogical"
