This is very nice , but could do with a backdrop tooltype to prevent windows falling behind it...

Now includes backdrop tooltype (among other things), thanks Thomas!

On the new version I noticed a strange thing, it's not possible to move the Gadget, if you try to move it "from the text" another NewMeter Gadget opens then you can't close them anymore.

EDIT:

With "WINDOWS" option the first problem disappears

Another weird thing but it happened also with the previous version is that it is requested (snoopdos) in "SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/Sys/ the icon file "def_NewMeter v1.154.info".

Great tool!! Tried it today and I have 2 questions.

1) Is there a way to close it completely once opened?
2) The cpu meter shows constantly 100% . Am I doing smg wrong?

My Amiga is an 1200 with 1233n at 42MHZ running 3.1.4 with bestvWB.

If it is running as a window, click into the window and select Quit from the menu or press Ctrl-C.

If it is running as an icon, click on the icon and choose Icon -> Delete from the menu.

You probably have another CPU measuring tool running which keeps the CPU busy all the time. Or you have an alternate scheduler installed which does not update the DispCount and IdleCount fields in ExecBase.

You can activate the IDLETASK tooltype to get better results. But keep in mind that then NewMeter will keep the CPU busy, too.

Great thanks Thomas. Will try those out and I am sure it will be fine. I did have another cpu meter running (TinyMeter) so your answer was spot on!!

Is there any conflicts between the newer released icon.library versions and newmeter (that are known of)?
I'm pretty sure the only recent change I have made is the installation of the new icon.library and I know longer see newmeter running after startup. I keep trying to run the program after startup and nothing seems to be working.
I ran the program for quite a while before that.
I did also install the 3.2.1 update over 3.2 but I imagine if that was a conflict it would have been reported already.

Tested NewMeter with OS 3.2.1 and the new icon.library by PeterK and I have not found any problem, everything works regularly.

Use Snoopdos maybe it helps to understand why!

Try to run it from a shell. Does it return to the DOS prompt or does it stay active?

If it immediately returns, check with SnoopDOS if any libraries are missing.

If it stays running, add the WINDOW tooltype and check if that makes any difference.

Does your Workbench run on a native screen mode or on a RTG gfx card?

Does Workbench run in windowed mode? Did you check if the NewMeter window is hidden behind the Workbench window? Or if the NewMeter icon is outside the visible area? There are scroll bars on the Workbench window which might indicate that there is more to see than is currently visible.

There was a problem with NewMeter and my icon.library Build #555, which is still on Aminet. The NewMeter icon was rejected, since icon.library has started to check icons for a valid signature ($E310) in the first word of the DiskObject structure. Because some programs didn't provide this signature, I've changed the code in #556 again. The structure gets repaired now.

The icon.libraries here at EAB have this fix already built-in. And NewMeter was also updated to v1.199 with a fix.
