Transfering files from PC to winuae...
...As per: http://www.winuae.net/cw.html
It seems I'm supposed to get the multidisk.device file onto my workbench.adf for winuae. How? Thanks. |

Heys Narf,
I am a little confused, as transfering from pc to winuae is seamless, all you need to do is add a PC directory to your configuration ( look in hard drives ) then you can access that directory from you emulated amiga under winuae but since all that is quite simple, imma guessing that i have missunderstood the question. |

The multidisk.device goes in your Devs: dir and is only needed if you are using the catweasel card via Winuae.

I've copied my Workbench disk into my harddrive folder (copy df0: dh0: all) and it now boots from the harddrive. I've also dropped 'multidisk.device', 'changes' and 'diskimage' into the devs folder.
However, the devs: directory contained no DosDrivers directory. I created one and added a file named CAT with the appropriate information; however, the 'mount cat:' command returns an error: 'Device "cat:" not recognized'. I'm using Workbench 1.3 and Kick.rom 1.3. Thanks. |

Are you trying to use the Catweasel Drive to read Amiga disks
Have you got the Catweasel card Installed in the PC Just copying the Workbench disk to a HD folder wont set up a true Amiga HD. You need to run the Installer for the Workbench you want to install. How did you copy the Workbench disk to the folder in the first place |

I am quite sure that the Catweasel drivers need Kick/WB 2.0 at least. Also the DosDrivers directory only works on WB 2.0 and above. With WB 1.3 you have to edit devs:mountlist instead.

So, I guess the question is, does anyone know of a way to get the catweasel drive working with WB 1.3? Secondary question: If I disable, say, drive df0: and rename CAT to df0, will such a thing as a copy disk treat the catweasel drive as df0:? Thanks again. |

Er, what do I use to modify MountList? WordPad seems to mess it up so it doesn't work.
Thanks, off to try typing into Edit. Well, using a hex editor, it turns out that the PC end line is 0D 0A and the Amiga end line is just 0A. So now it loads the new MountList. Mount CAT: even works. However, cd cat: gets me a guru error. I changed the unit number; same. There's an amiga disk in both drives. These might be usefull: http://www3.telus.net/funnybnz/winuaebootlog.txt http://www3.telus.net/funnybnz/winuaelog.txt Last edited by Narf the Mouse; 09 January 2007 at 21:04. |

Heys Narf,
I would edit the Mountlist on the Amiga side (be that emulated or otherwise), use ed or memacs ) You can use notpad and save the file as an ASCII file. this should help your problems... |

Er, edited in an update - Managed to hexedit the problem. It now mounts cat:, it just glitches when I try to access cat: - Such as, 'cd cat:'.
Thanks anyway. |

Most likely multidisk.device needs 2.0 or 3.x. Or CPU must be 68020 or better.

Thanks. Changing the CPU to 68040 didn't fix it, so I probably need to upgrade workbench.

Well, ran the Amiga Forever HD version of workbench 3.1 with CAT in the dosdrivers directory and, while it no longer glitches, it still refuses to access cat:
