Thanks. All chip labels need to be fully readable.

we need closeup foto's from the extra boards that are inside, the board which is connected to the touchscreen connector would be good if we can see and read what chips are on there...

This cubo seems a slight evolution - they put the jamma board into the CD32. The Video connector goes to connector "B" - and not to the Touchscreen connector.

It has tiny PIC microcontroller (12c508?). So this is a show stopper without internal code..

Nearby are two Toshiba chips, could you recheck the model number? TC620something?

Odeon writes following to Amiga serial port at boot (bitrate=9600):

01 50 4e 38 31 32 0d 00 ".PN812.."

and slightly later:

55 64 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 b8 "Ud........."

I assume Amiga serial port is connected to touch screen (Serial port TX and RX is available in CD32 expansion port). Perhaps this helps to find out type and protocol of the touchscreen.

Yes, thanks. It is just a 4 channel driver chip. I thought it was some logic/memory chip.

About touch screen: PN812 is "use 9600 baud" init string for 3M microtouch screen. "Ud" isn't listed but perhaps it is check for some other device (or serial error message) because touch screen didn't respond, there is few seconds delay between "PN812" and "Ud".

Yes, in fact I too had already come to the conclusionn that it was a RS232 "3M" protocol (googling the string there was some match..)
But.. why using the serial even for output debug message? (see successive output string in code)
Seem that the extra board is just a trampoline for the Touch Screen (a passive repeater), and control all the i/o serial comunication with CD32.
My previous message to AMike was just this: where is the RS232 cable destination?

ross

It is confirmed touch screen uses Microtouch MT3000 compatible protocol. ("MT3000 Capacitive controller reference guide" is easily found)

Odeon sends more commands if correct reply is received, about ten configuration commands at boot.

EDIT: It also looks like Odeon reboots the system if PIC fails to respond after longer delay.

It probably was quite popular but it won't help.

It is (one time) programmable microcontroller, it runs custom hardware specific code.

Same message appears even when I reply to touch screen commands. Touch screen commands are also only sent when nvram is empty and it automatically goes to service menu.

It reads DIP switches twice, then writes 3 times to $80000b ($00, $10, $00), then the error screen comes.

EDIT: It also reads NVRAM, initializes it, then re-reads written data (data is same) so I am not sure why it complains.

Well, while the CD32 situation will be sorted out I uploaded the HDD version (OT2.ZIP) in my EAB FTP folder.
Like i've said is a bit messed but works (just ignore Touch Screen error).

Insert coins with 1/2/3/4 keys (1/2/5/10 coins) or ENTER key.
Move with mouse or arrow keys.
Use ESC key to exit from sub-games, if you use ESC in main screen you go to.. nothing.. (so do not use it )

If you lauch the SETUP icon use ESC key to skip error screen and go to service menù.
When in service menù use ESC to START.

Regards,
ross
