I think you can make it 32 by separating cars in a different playfield but since am not a coder take my words with a ton of salt

playfield => bitplane
Exactly how Supercars 2 handles cars of different colors. By applying a mask bitplane or not on a different bitplane, which shifts the palette for the cars. This requires colors to be at fixed positions: no mask: sub-palette #1, mask on one plane: sub-palette #2, mask on the other plane: sub-palette #3. and the car images are reused. |

I would love to see Lotus 1 be playable in single player mode full screen like Lotus 2. Probably lots of work involved in that though

I did get one game crash with a yellow trashy screen and music was skipping all over the place.
@jotd Have you test all the mod files work ingame, there may be a non working mod in there. (Im not sure which audio track from Lotus 1 or Lotus 3 caused the issue) On the other hand I played it again and went through all 7 courses in Medium Gameplay [ Show youtube player ] |

you can also press "M" to change music (not while race is on)
@ransom yes there seems to exist an issue which at least trashes the menu music. But it also happened with normal sfx (no music). But if you can have a reproducible scenario with music I'm interested of course! I always investigated those and fixed them.No biggie. thanks for the video. Notice @5:13 (police station) that the guy on the right has been changed. I'm almost sorry about that. Was too lazy to re-do the snapshots so I used the pngs from my remake, where I had replaced Shaun (or some game artist) by me |

@jotd - I cant seem to replicate the issue, i tried many times. If it happens again ill let you know. when it did happen the music stuttered and the game dropped to a very slow speed, it's the same thing that happens when you use a mod that is not compatible with the game..
As for the picture at the police station, I didn't notice.. You should put your nickname on one of those posters if it is possible |

about the positions: I didn't change anything in that area.
Anyone is getting slowdowns on a real amiga? the game isn't smooth on A1200 + blizzard 68060/50. |

I tried a version a few days ago on my a1200 with b1230 and did think it felt a bit choppy but didn't have time to compare.

For me there is a little slowdown with in game music selected that doesn't happen when its turned off. Its not enough to spoil the gameplay though and it only seems to do it on the easy level. Medium and hard I don't really notice any at all.
My system has and ACA1221 68020 runnning at 28mhz. |

Changed a few things like setting blthog/blitter nasty all the time, didn't seem to hurt (specially because the code runs in fastmem)
Then tried NTSC and slowdowns were gone on my A1200/060. The game wasn't as fast as with PAL when there are almost no cars on screen but game ran steadily (music or not) and was smooth. Of course NTSC "eats" the bottom of the screen. I've started adapting codetapper whdload fix but not done yet. Anyway, best SC2 game in months with that and colored cars. Also noticed that some Lotus 3 modules are probably not that compatible with phx replay (wrong notes, is that my A1200 that needs recapping?) and some lakes aren't completely filled (no biggie). |

Yesterday night I played through medium and hard level with Lotus 1 soundtracks.
Apart for some minor issues (no brake sounds here and there) the game ran very smoothly on my A1200 with Vampire V1200. I got some weird sounds when using the nitro or, sometimes, when there where many cars hitting each other but I'd say that the game is almost perfect. You certainly did a great job, jotd, thanks! Just a small note about the water in some tracks, if i remember well it was different in the previous versions, I'd say darker with an "intense blue"... now it is a bit "weird" in my opinion but it doesn't matter, I read in some previous posts of this thread that you already discussed about this topic. |

I'm glad you guys like it. Now try to start the ECS version and you think you're colorblind with all this grey
The sounds are a bit of a concern. I think I'm pushing phx player a little too far. Maybe some kind of throttle could be used to avoid playing sounds too close to each other. |

i tried this on emulator, and it seems like the framerate is a bit stuttery, is this a problem with my setup, or is the game meant to run not smoothly? i never tried the PC version.
love the extra colors otherwise, great job! |
