LOL

I assume it's trying (and failing) to open/access the help system? Will try this for myself in a minute.

Pressing HELP in AMOS Pro under a command it will bring the AMOS Command Guide, if it's been installed properly.

Yup, Phantom is very much correct. However, when the help system is correctly installed (or accessories disk is available) there are certain words that do reveal hidden messages in the help system.

I believe "francois" or "lionet" is one of them. There are about 6 or 7 in total.

Are you sure that noone has changed the help files? They are (mostly) just plain text.

Which version of AMOS Pro do you have?

Edit:

ok, just checked the version I have (AMOS Pro 2X given away with Amiga Format) and yes, it is a legit message.
On the accessories disk, open the "AMOSPro_Help.txt" file found in the "AMOSPro_Help" drawer.
The first few lines are:

The young super TV star has this to say about his football team:

Queens Park Rangers are a super team! They'll never win anything though...

Francois once let the alarm off at Europress and almost got arrested.

The fatest First Direct coloured Cat!

The real programmer!

The most patient French Woman in the world!

The only man to burn a hole in a QWERTY keyboard.

Sick and tired of the help file but proud of it.

The world's best programmer!

Examining the "Help.Map" file in the same drawer should reveal the words to activate these phrases within AMOS.

Edit2:

Ok, examined the "Help.Map" file and it looks like these activate the above hidden messages:

Vanner, Lionet, Pudsie, Daisy, Carrine, Mel, Stephen, Dithell

i have a boxed original which i got by sending in the back page of the original AMOS manual direct to europress and i saved £20! I also bought the Compiler direct as well...

I registered my copy of AMOS and they sent me a leaflet when AMOS Pro came out offering the "trade-in"

Are these messages from Amiga Format's specific AMOS Pro version, or from the original too?
