Stein's HDFs

Remember that site from Emuviews many years back?

I wonder if anyone managed to backup all the games off there and kept them?

Would be fun if they were all unearthed once more!

whoa, somebody out there remembers me? I never had too many visitors, and had to shut down when JoseQ started having his BW problems.

But yes, I did keep them all and have even added a few over the years. I uploaded the whole collection to a few different FTPs but since that time the FTPs have either quit or have had physical drive failures.

Right now I've just started installing my WHD games to HDF, I think I'm in the B's or C's somewhere hehe.

Cheers
Stein

Ooooh I didn't know you were registered here! Hehe, I do believe I used to post a few times on your old board back then Stein. I seem to recall discussing Hook a little bit mostly.

Is it possible you could upload some of your masterpieces to the Zone if you still have them, thanks?

I do remember the Hook discussion was a bugger to make work.

What would you be interested in? I'd be glad to share...

(I'll post a list a bit later)

If this is a LOT of stuff the Zone might not be up to it.. depending on "demand" ED2K or Torrent might be better or a post to usenet (alt.binaries.emualtors.amiga) ?

Or perhaps?

Heh, the funny thing is I can't even remember what the problems I discussed regarding Hook back then were about...... messages popping up at startup? Game not saving properly? Whatever they were, I do remember it was the JST version. I take it you tested the WHD one since then Stein?

Nice list btw! I'd love to check out all of them but I know it would be a burden to the Zone. I'm not too sure about ED2K links though because I've tried eMule a few times before and every single time it would fail to download anything at all, even with the port settings sorted out! I haven't used Usenet in a long while and am starting to think what out there could be better than Agent this time....?

Hmm, Hare Raising Havoc?
Stein, if you did not remember to REPLACE the main file by the cracked one, this game would be unplayable. I discovered that myself by scanning thru an old CD with a rare seventh disk which I've never seen before in the SKR set. It contained the cracked executable, without which a manual will be mandatory to not get booted out right after the manual check.

well, I installed the HDF from my own amiga disks which I dumped via my a1200... I finished the game once or twice on my amiga so I know my version works. I installed the HDF years ago, before I started my site, which is now years dead so I really don't know how I installed it, just that I'm usually pretty thorough. I was just playing my HDF after you mention it and it works good

Say Stein, if you're up for upping (lol) your HDF sets for the time being, you could try or FileLodge for storage purposes.

Bippy, I was reading the Lemonade FAQ and noticed this piece in particular:
Quote:
Does Lemonade support hard disk files and WHDLoad installs?
Lemonade doesn't have HDF support yet, but it will definately be there in version 1.1. HDF packs from WHDLoad installs are currently being created by bippym, and Lemonade will support these by adding the CRC32 algorithm to our database. They will then automatically be added and set as playable during a game scan, in the same way as ADF files.
The thing is, HDF files can have radically different CRCs depending on how many and what exact files exist inside it. How can you make sure they all remain the same throughout the existence of the collection? Or are they going to be spread as a set like the TOSEC stuff?

One way is to have two HDFs for each game config; one HDF will have the game and startup script, the second HDF will be one of two things, an HDF containing your legal key and WHDLoad or an HDF containing just WHDLoad.

But there might be another/easier way...

Guys keep your eyes peeled for my HDF's when I get round to re-writing the gui and prefs etc..

The WHDLoad key will be copied BY THE USER to the boot hdf!
