I’ve been looking at an ACA500plus as a potential upgrade. I want to keep the A500 as stock, as that’s the reason for the purchase in the first place. It seems like a good addition which allows me to have the best of both. For everything else I have Amiberry.

Bought a cleaning product I can recommend for musty / mouldy plastics our retro gear is sometimes made of. It's called in French pierre d'entretien. It consists of a thick cleaning paste made of natural ingredients (white clay, soap), and is usually supplied with a synthetic sponge. The smell is fresh in small dosage, though it's not exactly flowery, so have that in mind when starting spreading it on larger areas.
Denatured alcohol among other couldn't help much in getting rid of the strong smell coming from my SMS joystick. So tried that paste as last resort and it did the trick apparently (you're supposed to wipe off the excess powder with a lint free cloth afterwards, of course). It's been a couple of hours already, and the initial smell hasn't come back. The good news is hobbyists can easily bake their own cleaning paste.

7.5cm crt monitor with rca inputs.
Not even sure why, but I get a kick out of trying modern games/modern hardware on atypical screens.
Hit the 200 milestone for the DS part of my collection too with a Sherlock Holmes game Id never heard of.
$2.50, cib, hard for a collector to turn away.
According to pricecharting and ebay it goes for about $18 on average, so I assume it has some sort of merit to it.

So I had that urge to be playing a handful of action Amiga games with a trackball,
only with inertia...
After using a process of elimination (Logitech trackman, let's watch some YT vid... nah, Sega Sports pad, let's watch some more YT vids... nah, etc.), I settled for the mouse-trak, model : B-5XXMP-XROHS. The one I got is cream colored and connects through a PS2 socket. In essence, this is a PS2 compatible industrial grade 3-button 192 DPI device, a beast so to speak (7.96 x 4.20 inches), one great aspect about it is that the marble has inertia when being flicked hard enough.
I use it along with a db9 PS2 mouse adapter recently bought from some Polish seller, 3rd button is supported, capability confirmed by playing Kevin Gallagher's port of Missile Command. So far, I enjoyed immensely playing those few games, mouse-trak in hand : Microbes, Marble Madness (obvious choice wouldn't you say so , set to mouse mode), Vektor Storm. On the other hand, Virus controls are too sensitive for that one to be played properly with the mouse-trak.
Having said that, there is a lesson to be learnt, me thinks. My search for the most adequate (YMMV) trackball would have taken a wholly different turn if my Microsoft Trackball Optical 1.0 had been supported by the USB db9 adapter (it's the one everyone and his mother owns). Failure of that adapter to drive properly the aforementioned MS trackball had created a (strong) incentive to look for something else. Glad I did, despite the fact that it took literally ages for me to find the rare pearl. Paid 30 quids to some French seller, who told me he had a few other units for sale.

It's sturdy too, well designed, the best 30 euros I spent in a long time. Of course, using trackballs for gaming requires some practice. I've watched a few vids involving 30something gamers challenging the old farts by attempting to play their favorite FPS with an optical trackball.
Well, no wonder they fail to see the positive aspects of it. As a matter of fact, they don't actually grab the thing and lay their palm of it, what some of them do is hold it feverishly between their fingers and roll the ball loose without controlling its course . The mouse-trak lacks an actual scroll wheel, but that's a minor issue. Feel free to check the YT vid I just made if you want to see it in action.

Bought the new (v2) version of the SLG3000 (scanline generator from ArcadeForge). Its input method differs from v1 : It supports VGA instead of Scart, otherwise identical (presumably). The scanlines it generates kinda "radiate", it's an interesting effect.

I bought 4pcs of '3M Bumpon SJ5012' rubber feet for the A1200, fit perfectly. The old/original ones had literally melted. Thanks goes to Jope for the tip.

Another Amiga 500.

After an Action Replay Mk III now but prices are mental on eBay. Anyone selling one that isn't after ridiculous money, let me know. They had an RRP of £60 30 years ago, trying to sell one for £250 is taking the piss.
