GOALnew8beta.zip

This new version features my attempt to correct tactics. Lot of work, but I am a bit insecure about the result and ask you for testing!

I mostly did correct that players swap positions accidentally (while keeping the positions as original as possible at the same time). But you maybe will notice some more defensive power to the teams because defenders now don´t run from left to right and back again, but keep up positions more disciplined. So this could affect gameplay.

Left winger now really plays left in 4-3-3 (that was terrible to change, because the only real wrong frame was the one that presents the tactics in Goal!, but I rather changed all the other 200 frames than this one, because all data disks would be wrong if I did it the easy way).

I did not change that forwards in 5-3-2 change positions from time to time, I think you can play this way in offense and it´s less predictable to opponent teams. But defense back 5 now don´t mess around. But I rather don´t know about tactics, I mostly played a wide position without even knowing if I am a defender or attacker.

So testing welcome, please tell me what you think!!

hello Zak , tested your new beta 8 and i'm really happy with the changes you made in tactics ! that improve a lot the gameplay , players now stay in position and that's great because the team you play can now really defend !!

Thanks and continue this great job with Goal!

O.K. no one else announces testing and so I´ll stay with the tactics change. I also changed some teams and made a GOALnew8final.zip.

Hello Zak and thank you for this final release!
I know how it can be sade for someone doing a lot for a game to not have a lot of feedback but it´s a 20 years old game , even if for me it´s always the best football game...but someone in his little corner surely apreciate your work and that´s the most important!
In 2008 i did the French and English championship while another person did the Italian one but we never had feedback too...
The real luck we had is that Stingray is a fan of this game and made the whdload install !
Well as i told you i'll try to update Goal! with 2013 teams if i can have time to...

Thanks again !

Well, in the end I mostly do this for me. It´s the game of my life! I play this and that game and always return to Goal!. I was always bothered that it had this flaws and errors and then I got my hands on Dino Dini File System. And then I said, hey now I could really make it the way it was intended to be.
I came here to this forum so that maybe someone could help me, but o.k., I know it´s 20 years old.
What I fear the most is that I apparently will never get finished. Everytime I search a little, I get new information like someone´s a left footer and then the teams change. And with so many teams and players, many very unknown youth players, it´s terrible.

I continue this thread because I see the views growing a little and I think the one or other is interested without wanting to post in this thread.

I would really like you to make 2013 teams. Tell me, if I can be of help. I have some links that maybe could help you. I am very uncreative in inventing players´values, but would do this to, if necessary.

I know I called number 8 "final", but here is GOALnew9.zip. This version has much evolved. Just so if you are still interested, lolafg.

I have been working mostly on the spanish league with new information available that there wasn´t before on some football and news websites. I have been taking over some italian lineups as suggested on footballdatabase, don´t know if they are real, but seem to be feasible. (German lineups there are mostly not.) Then I have been looking for original Goal! lineups where numbers are a bit incoherent and reinterpreted them to be more harmonious (like Southampton for example).

I hope I understood this in the correct way:
GOALnew1: like normal Goal! disk 1, insert into Amiga and go
GOALnew2: second Goal! disk
GOALnew3: Data disk, load Goal! disk one, go to Edit Teams and press Custom Teams to load data
GOALzak: data disk, like GOALnew3

Edit:
Oh and the disks are still in the Zone! GOALdisks.zip and new updated GOALzak.zip

I tried to communicate with Dino Dini, but he won´t answer. I will go on improving versions of this game. Every time I search, I find something new.
