grafx2. Load picture using icon that writes S/L (press L) then decrease palette size to 16 (4096 colors) using right click PAL button. Then press S (in the S/L) button and save as format "lbm" to picture.iff

I think Personal paint also has png support to load pc images and save as iff.

You can use Ultimate Paint (PC, free) to convert any image to Amiga iff, change number of colors, transparency, palettes, etc http://www.ultimatepaint.com/ . My favourite.

I've used XNView and IrfanView (with a plugin for IFF from their homepage) on Windows in the past.

I just noticed that its Shell usage is more powerful then its GUI what I used (seldom) in the past. Do you know if the author is still active? However, GfxCon has some nice features.

I've got a 16 color palette for Ultimate Paint that PeterK made me time ago. It is made to work with PeterK's Fullpalette prefs (included in his Icon.library on Aminet -"ThirdParty"/Fullpalette/FPprefs). He made those prefs after I asked him for a better blue in Rebel's palette for Ken's icons when using 16 colors in AKReal. They are the best FPPrefs for me. Thanks a lot Peter K.

This is for example how to dither an image for a 16 colors icon (if they are dual png's you've got to change both images and later join them or use IconEdit):

Quote:
Start Ultimate Paint and load Options Palette "Retrofans16colors.pal".
Use "Limit Colors" and tag "Save Background Color", "Dither Image"
and "Use Colors of Fast Palette" and click "OK".

Load a new PNG image and then "Save As" PNG image
with "16 Colors", "Use Fast Palette", "Dither" and "Transparent".
Close the image and load the next one ....
That way I converted all of the 16 Colors Ken's Icons for the Dithered pack -it also offers a non dithered option that I made using the Batch option of UP- the installer offers for AKReal.

Paint Shop Pro always used to load and save iff files. It's what I used to convert all my old artwork into PCX files (a long time ago).
