Update to icon.library 46.4.441:

Tried to improve the "IconUpScaling" quality for TrueColor icons a bit. The enlarged images should look less grainy now, although I couldn't make the borders smoother without having an alpha channel.

i'm using the lastest icon.library on my system (OS3.9/060) and it seems that the Chipram is eated when browsing large folders with many directories/files in it... and when i close this forlder chipram stay low...

i'm using FS-UAE right now to test (same CF-CARD as my real A1200)... because i can emulate GFX card on FS-UAE i don't have on my A1200.

When i boot on the IconDemo.adf, everything is ok...

HELP ! i want to browse my game directory without loosing chipram/reboot

Don't know how to do to detect this problem...

@Foul

Are you using DOpus5 ?
Did you check Prefs/Workbench settings for "Images" to "Other Memory" ?
What is in your startup-sequence, user-startup and WBStartup ?

If you don't have a gfx-card in your A1200 and are running it in AGA modes then you need FBlit to load the icons into FastMem. There is also an FBlit.cfg file for OS 3.5+ in my ThirdParty section for the ENVARC: drawer.

You said that your system is OS 3.9 ... is it or not?

If it is, why are you using the NewIcons patch and NiRTGSet ? That's on my ADF image FOR OS 3.0/3.1! A Workbench 3.9 does not need it.

DefIconsNI is for the NewIcons patch. Use DefIcons from OS 3.9, PLZ. Also use ENVARC:DefIcons.prefs from OS 3.9, PLZ.

In your user-startup there is an Assign Picasso96:. So, do you have a gfx-card and a P96 monitor driver installed or not? If you have it then don't use FBlit. P96 and FBlit don't like each other.

If you don't have a gfx-card then remove every P96 driver from Devs:Monitors and only then keep FBlit in your startup-sequence installed.

UAEGFX is a P96 monitor driver !!

You have to decide: P96 or FBlit, but not both together !

You don't have FBlit activated anymore in your startup-sequnce or you don't have the correct ENVARC:FBlit.cfg for OS 3.5+ installed. You can find it under ThirdParty/FBlit.

If neither P96 nor FBlit is active then you can't use FastMem in Prefs/Workbench.

Sorry, but I've absolutely no experience with FS-UAE. I can't help in that case.

Is the correct 060.library installed?
I always prefer to use a WinUAE setup with 68020 an 68881.

OK Foul, maybe it's better to ask FS-UAE experts.

Update to icon.library 46.4.442:

The new "IconUpScaling" function now also works in the same way for OS 3.5 icons as for TrueColor icons.

Update to icon.library 46.4.443:

The improved "IconUpScaling" function creates now also smoother borders around the enlarged images besides the better image quality as done before already. Of course, it can never be as perfect as an image processing program will do it.

Please remember that the two optional scaling commands are not intended for permanent use. They should be activated on demand only. Then you could use CopyIcon to transfer the scaled images to all the destination icons and when this is done just call the same scaling command again to switch the scaling off.

Don't be surprised to see the "Format Change" requester also for the OS 3.5 icons since they are temporarily converted into the TrueColor format to allow the creation of new mixed colors for the additional inserted pixels.

After writing the scaled images to the target icons the images will appear scaled twice, which could be a bit confusing. But when you switch the scaling off as explained above, close the windows and open their drawers again then everything should look correctly.

The icon.library 46.4.443 has been uploaded to the Aminet now.

PointerEyes 4.4 Not Working w/46.4.443

Apologies if I am simply missing something, but I just installed the latest icon.library and it works fine (as much as being able to see the different icons at least.. haven't done a ton of playing yet) except that when enabled, PointerEyes 4.4 will not launch. I know it's a useless program but it's something I like to use on my Amiga. Sue me

PointerEyes throws an error "Couldn't lock directory" and I've caught what is happening with SnoopDos 3.8. I've attached 2 screenshots - one showing the output of SnoopDos when PointerEyes is launched w/o icon.library enabled and one when it is enabled. It appears to cause a path to malform but I'm too noobish to figure out why. I've tried replacing PROGDIR in the PointerEyes tooltypes with an actual hard path, but the issue is still apparent.

i could reproduce this, and found a solution.
shorten the path and the filename, for example:

original folder and file name:
PointerEyesImages/ShadedEyes.8
rename the folder and file to:
PEImages/ShadedEyes
( or PEI/ShadedEyes )

also change the tooltype/icon-information of PointerEyes:
EYESPICTUREFILE=Progdir:PEImages/ShadedEyes
( or EYESPICTUREFILE=Progdir:PEI/ShadedEyes )

not sure if it's about the dot + number at end of file, or the overall length of the path.
but shorten it, did work here.

btw: where is PeterK,almost 3 weeks no login?!

LOL right... but given that it works fine if icon.library is not loaded...

Looking into SFS/PFS are on my list. Just getting back into the scene so I'm way behind on all the cool toys.
