It is not off by default. You probably have default.uae with sound off. Default.uae is automatically loaded at startup.

"Default.uae is automatically loaded at startup."

Then why is default.uae silent ?
I would not choose that !

Copied & renamed the A500 config to fix

Thats the whole point. It is meant to be contain YOUR preferred config at startup. Overwrite it with your preferred config or delete it.

And to add a little, as far as I know there isn't a default.uae created when Winuae is first ran, the default.uae is created either by the user or another source, not by Winuae so it must have come from you Nobby or somewhere else.

Well yes it says created by whatever version of Winuae but it has to be manually created ie setup and then saved and the name given to make it, WinUAE does not do this part.

It just adds that line so Toni can see what version of Winuae was used to make it..
