The Adventures Of Sinbad

So, AMIPEGUSER provided an ADF made from his original disk which neither of us can get to work. The question is if it is possible to get the game running (either on real hardware or WinUAE) or if it can be salvaged/fixed to run. Find the ADF in the zone.

can he make a ctraw or a kryo dump and send it to me for processing ?

Just for the record, this game is copy protected, and there are no error in the ADF he made, it's just that the Ben Herndon HLS protection track is not imaged of course.

Wouldn't it just be an idea to ask Dr.Bong?

Looking at the screenshots on HOL, it has his name in some of them, so presumably he has a version that is cracked or preserved already.

And yes it is the wanktastic Ben Herndon HLS protection.

@Phill
I saw the thread and luckily had my original boxed copy handy. I might be able to supply a deprotected ADF (and raw dump for Denis if he's still keen) over the weekend if I get time, so stay tuned!

Yes, it would. I guess I should have added that at the time of me starting this thread there were no screenshots.

Hi Guys,

So, of course I get the Sinbad used but orinigal boxed.
I made a copy with X-Copy and could not recognised a copy protection (red number).
All tracks were green.
Because I always made a copy of every game I have, it would be interesting on which track the copy protection was here.Or is it on 80/81???
I have my own copy protection list with more than 1000 original games which explains
how the Disks must be copied with X-Copy/Cyclone and Hardware to get a working copy.
In case of sinbad my original Disks did not works also. Maybe it is right, that this Disk was repaired not correct sometimes.
I just have made a stream for our a1k Kryoflux SPS team some time ago.

Find a working ADF of The Adventures of Sinbad sans copy protection....in the Zone. It appeared to run fine in brief tests here on my A500. I don't really emulate, so emulation users please test and report any problems. Enjoy!

Should be called Ben Dover HLS protection! Lotsa early Ami titles - especially from North America - have this painfully annoying copy-protection scheme.

More like a hard day's night of work that turned into early morning! I was too wired to go to sleep straight away when I finished up at 6:30am, so I thought I'd do some light EAB reading and ended up knocking up a few screenshots of Sinbad with the Action Replay on the A500 after reading this thread. Slept like a baby for 4-5 hours afterwards before getting up to hit it again!

IMHO, there are better ways of making physical disk copies or disk images that can be written back to disk when required. I've found parameter copiers (e.g. PowerCopy + dongle, Marauder II, RawCopy) and warping tools (e.g. WWarp, MFMWarp) are often much better and quicker than X-Copy/Cyclone for trickier copy-protection schemes.

So were you able to making a working IPF from AMIPEGUSER's Kryoflux dump, or do you need me to send you a raw dump of my original to do that?!

Big thanks for the adf (works in FS UAE)! For some reason I really wish all these early MIA's from the Eighties were found, this is one step forward.

Not sure, I just drag/dropped it on FS UAE Launcher icon. But this was DrBong's version that just got uploaded, yours didn't work when I tried it yesterday.

Good Work Guys

@kremiso
I am so firm with X-copy and used for all of my 4500 Originals.
But there are some Games like Apano sin etc. which I can‘ t copy.
Even we can‘ t read Apano sin with Kryoflux without mistakes.
Maybe I will try some Other tools For Games like That.

@dreadnought
I am really on it because I have a good working german college with TCD For HOL.
Yesterday I added Blueberry and Lords of war with missing items
I will get further in the next Time so I think we can find many missing items.

Still hoping that more collectors will join in and help out. Fingers crossed
