TF1260 - Need working cpuspeed in Workbench 3.1

I got a TF1260 accelerator that included A IDE to SD card adapter and a SD card that has Amiga OS 3.2 on it. That has a working cpuspeed program that lets me change the speed of the 68060 cpu. But when I copy this file to a installation of Workbench 3.1 and using Kickstart 3.1 Roms It does not work with a #8000000B error.

I have looked around for another cpuspeed program and I got one from tf1260r1_2021_12_17_1742_4514ac9_alpha.zip firmware file. But that also does not work with the same error code.

After I got the accelerator I found Amiga OS 3.2 took 45 seconds to load from cold boot with a soft reboot for the TF1260. So I went back to Workbench 3.1 that only takes 8 seconds from cold boot.

Where can I get a working cpuspeed from. Does that file need another library or something?

Have you added 68060.library to your WB 3.1 installation? MMULibs is recommended for TF1260

I installed Mu680x0Libs that includes 68060.library in WINUAE. Then my A1200 can boot Workbench 3.1 with the TF1260 plugged in. I found only copying 68060.library to LIBS: lets Workbench 3.1 boot but other stuff won't work such as Doom.

SetPatch of 3.1 does not load 68060.library, it only loads 68040.library. A workaround is to replace 68040.library by the 68040dummy.library which comes with P5 accelerators. That one then loads 68060.library or 68040new.library, depending on which CPU is found.

I don't know if (and how) the mutools work around this issue.

A 8000000B can also be triggered by a bug in the FPU recognition. A fix for that is http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/SetPatch_43.6b

When I installed Mu680x0Libs I did it in "Novice" mode that gave no choices. I just reinstalled it as "Intermediate User". That gave the option do I use a Phase 5 accelerator board. I choose Yes and No about the other accelerator boards. Now cpu speed works and Sysinfo shows the right numbers for a 50mhz 68060. Before it was 12% slower.

When I first got the TF1260 I was trying it with Amiga OS 3.2. And I could overlock the cpu to 100mhz. I ran Doom for 5 minutes with no crashes. But then I stopped because I was worried about the cpu overheating. Now with setting cpu speed at 100mhz in Workbench 3.1 Doom will load with freezes quickly. I wonder If I can get it stable at 100mhz or I am fooling myself heh. WhichAmiga says I have a rev 4 68060.

I think this is more of an issue how the IDE implementation on the TF cards works with WB 3.1.4 and above. The TF536 has similar issues, booting Wb3.1 quickly but super slow on 3.1.4 and above.
The best suggestion to improve speed is to increase the block size to 4096

TF cards are fine with 3.1.4 and 3.2 - but installing the full MMULib package is required, as you need to use MUFastRom to get the IDE speed up.

For the TF1260, it was designed and tested using the MMULib 060 library, so again, a full install of MMUlib package should be installed, and again you need to use MuFastRom to move the kickstart into fast RAM.

If your 060 is Rev4 - it's an LC - so make sure the executables you are using are for 030-non-FPU to avoid issues.

My 1260 runs at 100MHz under 3.2.1, but I have active cooling on it (a rev6 060).

In some cases it might be the cplds which are crashing at 100Mhz, not the cpu.

That's a fair point. They have an easier time (and so you've more chance of reaching these speeds) on the latest alpha firmware.

@Xav - do you know which firmware your card is using? This will directly affect which version of CPUSpeed you need to use as well.

How do I find what firmware version my TF1260 is using?

I can overclock my cpu to 67mhz and 94mhz without Doom time demo crashing. Again I could overclock to 100mhz without Doom crashing if I installed Mu680x0Libs with all default settings, not Phase 5 accelerator, but this crashes cpuspeed. I have put heatsinks on both the cpld ic's.

Cpuspeed shows the serial number of the firmware. 999 is beta, and 1000 is alpha.

cpuspeed says "Serial:1000". So alpha. Lets see how to flash beta firmware.

Nah, you want the alpha firmware - it's the latest (from Dec last year).

Yeah, the firmware was started again from scratch - this is the alpha of the rewrite. To be fair it's not something you'd know if you haven't been following development closely - so can understand the confusion!
