games on an 060 accelerated Amiga
Having trouble getting many running on an Amiga 3000T with a Cyberstorm 060 accelerator installed along with 80 megs of fast ram and 2 megs of chip ram. OS is 3.1.4
WHDLoad is the obvious fix and I am very grateful for that, but there are newly developed titles that I buy, to support the development and of course to play them, and those titles are not in WHDload and they never seem to work. The new-ish titles I am talking about at the moment are: Riveraid reloaded Worthy Tales of Gorluth I can't get any of these to load. Even Riverraid and Worthy which have bootable floppies won't work when I boot from the floppies. Is it my accelerator board/060 CPU that is causing this? Is there a common way of making most games work with this sort of configuration? Thanks for helping. Dan |

I had all kinds of problems with my A500T/060 or A4000T/CSPPC/060. One by one dropping first 060 spesific caches, then data cache, perhaps setting VBR to zero did solve some gaming problems. And closing internet connection when WHDLoading.

You can try to PM :
- alpine9000 regarding Worthy - Alpha One regarding River Raid Reloaded - viddi regarding the Gorluth séries. and ask them if their games are intended to run on a 060 ? |

Gorluth works fine on 060.
The problem might be OS 3.1.4! |

What program would you use to drop these cashes and what not before loading one of these games?

whdload has a built-in unsupported instructions patch for instructions that were removed from the 68060 (the most known being MOVEP). 68060.library does the same, so if the game is using the OS and is HD installable, it shouldn't be a problem.
By booting a game from floppy, you can be sure that those patches aren't active so it could crash if such instructions are used (ex: Speedball 2). This can probably be debugged using WinUAE. But VBR is set to zero when booting from floppy. Caches can also be disabled in early startup. Note that you can disable Phase 5 boards by pressing a key at startup. 68060 Phase 5 board can be disabled by pressing "2" on startup while rainbow screen is showing. |

Try the tool Embedder II. On Aminet. You run the tool then the name of the exe of the game in a Shell. It helps run stuff on 040/060's. ie Embedder Game.exe

The best degrader I remember using is TUDE, which fixed almost all of my problems on my A4000/060 before WHDLoad came out:
http://m68k.aminet.net/package/util/misc/TUDE However you can of course always go back to Chris Hames' classic Degrader, the one that started it all: http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/Degrader |

I assume these 3 games support NTSC (if you're playing them on an NTSC Amiga). Normally, the early boot screen supports degrading options (primarily: chipset), and normally, the relevant caches are off until the accelerator software or CPU command is run. Your rig is more compatible with games written for A500 or A1200 if they're off. Maybe the CyberStorm is different, but I don't think so.

You could also try my "baby"
http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/bootute_v2.7 EDIT: Don't bother with the one on TOSEC. It was never released on floppy and the hacked keyfile included actually made it work less than the trial version. The version above is not limited in any way and is 100% functional. Have the same problem in AMIGASYS4 with 68060 processor. WHDLoad just close down with a error code wich differs from game to game. Some games works though.

I'm still having trouble running tons of games with the 060 cyberstorm. Most degraders have little to no benefit that I have tried so far.
Is there any utility that reboots completely without the cyberstorm? reverting to the onboard 030? |

Blizzard has the "2" key. Don't know about Cyberstorm.
Tell us which games you still have trouble for? I tried worthy on 68060 without whdload and it worked for instance. I'm not going to create whdload for the sake of it, but if it's necessary, I'll do it. |

for floppies the best way to degrade is relokick 141
it will boot to kickstart 1.3 and then you can disable all 060 caches before inserting the disk (press F1 on kick 1.3 screen, changes green to blue) if a floppy game don't work with this trick then do not try other method |

the 2 key only work on the blizzard 4 030,1240 and 1260 and the cyberstorm ppc but I think the cyberstorm 060 do n't have this feature

I hear you. So if Worthy is working on your 060 then it must be something else about my system. What version of Workbench are you testing all this on. I am using 3.1.4

I know I ask this a lot in these kinds of threads, but which 060 library are you using?
