i had some fun with Supercars 2 and Overdrive.
There was a top-down driving game for Amiga that i remember had really weird controls. I don't remember what it was but left and right didn't turn your car, just made it go in that direction, i actually found that quite confusing. You'd get stopped by police and they'd apologise because they didn't realise it was you? |

I used to love Super Cars II. I tried it last week for the first time in ages. I was shocked how small the playfield was, it seemed very claustrophobic.

Amiga-wise, it's gotta be Super Cars 2 for me. Played it for absolutely hours and hours and completed it on all difficulty levels multiple times.
Arcades - Neo Drift out (Neo Geo). Perfect difficulty curve and that just one more go/credit type of gameplay that makes you want to keep shoving money into it... All time favourite though has to be Rush Rush Rally Racing. A mate of mine had this on Dreamcast and again, we played it for hours. Then in 2012, it got released onto the Wii (via WiiWare). This game has it all:

Super Cars 2 (it's always fun dropping mines in the tunnels when plying vs. other players, and the homing missiles are great too!)
Skidmarks Indy Heat with three or four players, so much fun. Crashing into your buddies's cars while they are in the box so they get pushed out, stunning their pit crew... Having to crawl to the box while the engine throws sparks and smoke if you are low on oil (because someone pushed you out while being repaired)... Great memories |

Roadkill without a doubt is the best one.
Second comes All Terrain Racing Third comes Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Off Road |

I have to agree with Roadkill being the best. Then there's Super Cars II and ATR for me. Super Skidmarks is fun too.

Mille Miglia is my personal nr.1 as well, even if it's mostly just for the looks.
F1 Circus for the PC-Engine is a very nice game. Slicks is imho the best overhead racer for the C64, but I also played Burnin' Rubber a lot of times. Was it Skidmarks or Super Skidmarks where you could build your own cars in Imagine? I killed a lot of time went for that, although IIRC I never really finished one of my cars. Anyway, looking at the gameplay I'd choose Super Cars 2 for the Amiga. If you are looking for a good one for your PC, don't forget to take a look at the brilliant freeware game MiniRacingOnline. |
