GVP A500-HD+ Boot problems

Hi folks,

Am seeking some help on my ancient GVP A500HD which is refusing to boot. It powers on, hdd is clearly alive but it simply won't start up Workbench. What I HAVE done is the following:

* Replaced the HDD with a SCSI drive that I know works with WB 1.3
* Removed the ram dimms in case any are damaged
* Rotated through all jumper settings

When going to the device's dignosis tool it DOES show one device as being not working ('Bad'/see picture). Not sure what it relates to, however.

Any help appreciated...hope you can see the attachments.

Probably the SCSI side of the device has lost it's magic smoke....

Does the Ram show okay when installed with the Memory Jumpers set accordingly?

I can't be sure. Whenever I have the jumpers in the correct setting (1+2, 6 + 8) the system never allows we to get into WB (disk or other). If I move J12 to give me the board diagnosis view (and then continue) it boots into WB but HDD doesn't appear in any shape or form.

Could it make a difference that I'm using an A500+?

According to the BBOAH, A500 or + should be fine. However, additional notes here http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/impact500mk2 suggest "problems may arise with the combination of A500, 8372A Agnus and an internal memory expansion with CPU or Gary adaptor - a trace has to be cut to solve the problem".

To be quite frank, you'll probably need to have this looked at by a competent repair Engineer.

I wouldn't want to favour anyone in particular & there are probably more knowledgeable guys on this forum who could advise you best.

I would suggest you start on our own Hardware Repair Service thread here:

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=81395

& if no joy here, maybe have a mooch around over @ AmiBay.
