A1200 correct price

Hi,
what could be a correct/fair price for a boxed A1200 in good/very good condition?

I used to see prices in the 300 euros range (100/150 euros some years ago), maybe something more, but recently I saw skyrocketed prices: 700/800 euros sales on eBay .

Also: I see A600s sold for 300 euros or slightly less. Did they skyrocket too?

I would (personally) be prepared to pay £300-400 tops for an A1200.

200 euros with 3.0 ROMs, PSU and mouse. Add 50 euros for recapping.

I think these should be closer to €200, but the market for these is soo much higher at the moment. But as always, if you play the waiting game, bargains do appear.

It is all about condition and extras. You want a boxed A1200 in nice condition. I would say at least 400 euro.

In EU probably not, but in the US definitely. It's more rare in here to see A1200.

I have Amiga Technology A1200 with Blizzard IV, you would have to pay me a lot more to pry it off my hands

Anything over £200 is a rip off. Regardless of being recapped.

Supply and demand. You get what you paid for no matter if you like it or not
The only way to find somewhat lower price is purchase it locally (i.e. in your country) and even there you have to wait for the right price.
Auctions are not recommended for those who want top condition and with low budget.
I would say 3XXish for plain 1200 in very good condition, mouse, floppy, psu and maybe a FastRam card.

400euro is a decent price for an A1200, working and in decent condition. Add 100 euro for same but capped.
I bought one ~3 months ago for 440 euro, paid that because it was close and available after busting my original 1200( i collected it the next day after busting my original).

I got mine 10 years or so ago for 30 EURs (good times) but the current prices are honestly crazy - I wouldn't have ever spent more than 150 EURs on an A1200.

If I couldn't get one for that price (if you look on local classifieds you can still get one for that much, if you are lucky) then I would go for the next best thing - I would get a MiSTer FPGA and not let the scalpers win.

Auctions are not recommended? What are you on about? It's the best, if not the only sensible, way to buy anything retro. Especially for those with a low budget.

Also "the supply & demand" trope is not really applicable to the heavily skewed world of internet auction sites. The BIN prices are not representative of real value of anything, nor their existence means that people are paying these prices. Hype-up trends and random situations like Covid also play a big role, never mind the hoarders.

Yep. And it makes me so angry that the "passion" guy above brazingly coming in here advertising his own "refurb" products that cost £400!! And not offering any opinion.

Thanks :-) Our opinion is clearly on our website. You can get a professionally refurbished unit (not a cleanwipe of the case) but completely stripped down and deep cleaned (yes inc keyboard), professionally recapped and board ultrasonic cleaned) with a 3 month RTB warranty all done inhouse.

Its down to the customer where they buy from. We don't discuss pricing directly for the simple reason is that prices vary so much, you get what you pay for. :-)
