State of the Art Non-Debugged?

Hi there! I've downloaded many different copies of State of the Art, and they all seem to have a "Skid Row Debugged It" message at the end. I previously had an original copy, but I don't anymore. Does anyone have the original copy (in .adf)? Thanks a lot!

I'm quite sure that's an original message in that demo. Although I don't know which Skid Row demo it refers to, I pretty sure that's what the 'how could this demo win' message means.

No, that message was put there by Skid Row because I think there was a bug in the original disk loader and Skid Row fixed it, and put that sarcastic message in there.

The version I had wasn't touched by Skid Row and oddly, worked on my A500 and A1200 and A4000.

I had a version without that ending message before, but I don't have it anymore. And, it worked on my A1000.

That doesn't really make sense don't you think? Why should the text refer to a Skid Row demo (like there were so many of them anyway *cough*) anyway?

Why? The only difference is that you would see a demo without the text that Skid Row added, that's all. There are no other visual differences.

So the whole screen was added then. When I said that I would like to see the original version, I thought that only the first line was edited by Skid Row.

The original version keeps the ending screen with the "phew!" message. The edited part is the top half of the screen with Skid Row's message.

So, does anyone have the original version?

I have it but it has corrupted gfx on the end so...
I found a version on the official spaceballs site. The best place to find an original one i think. Unfortunatly i can't run it in winuae... The disk may be corrupted or not compatible... I upload it for testing...

It works if you select 1 MB Chip and no Slow Ram It is indeed the version without the Skid Row message.

I found another version that is perfectly working with 512ko chip and 512ko slow.
I upload it immediatly in 'The Zone!'. I have just runned it and this is the original version too. Of course it isn't gfx or sound corrupted. Yipie !

@TheCyberDruid : Argh, i never remember to try this config (1 Mb chip, non slow ram) ! Shame on me but thanks for the tip !

Hmm, not sure if you're looking at the right place. It's in 'The Zone!' (look at the upper right corner) and here you find info about how to gain access : http://eab.abime.net/faq.php?faq=vb_...ezone_faq_item
The file name is 'State of the Art (1992)(Spaceballs)[TP2#1](Original Version).zip'.

If memories serves me correctly, the original Spaceballs release of the demo only ran on Amiga's with 1 megabyte of chip RAM... As I remember modifying my JP7A track on my motherboard to get 1 meg chip after which the demo ran with no problems. I think the Skid Row re-release fixed the demo so it would run on all Amiga's (not just those with 1 meg chip ram).

@Hercules : My state of the art disk is working on my a500 (512 ko chip ram with 512 ko slow ram). I think this is an original version (no "skid row screen at the end) but i read that spaceballs themselves fixed the demo after skid row. So two originals versions could exist...

That would explain why the first version only works with 1 MB Chip and looks the same as the second version which runs fine with 512 KB Chip + 512 KB Chip. Anyway, real 'purists' will have to mod their Miggy to 1 MB Chip like Hercules did

Not really, sorry Vollldo. Not sure if there are any that will actually run faster with Chip instead of Slow Ram.
