May Quiz - Clues #3
Attention, this is the last weekend before the deadline! Early next week this round will be over. So far, two players from this community are in, out of a total of over fifty. Neither number is particularly large, so get a move on! Maybe it will help if I give a third set of clues for once? Here you go: 1) Game number 4 is from Electronic Arts. 2) The 3, 17 and 19 are AAA open world titles, but only the former plays mainly in first person perspective. 3) Only two games in this round have appeared on the Commodore Amiga. 4) Picture 11 shows the final boss. Deadline is Tuesday 31st May, participation via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/. Here's the quiz one last time, join now: https://i.imgur.com/prY7Zka.png Last edited by Mr_Horizon; 01 June 2022 at 22:34. |

May Quiz - Answers & Score For a while it looked like we had a "gay panic" at our hands and the player numbers were far from 100... then in the last two days enough people have turned up for a triple digit number anyway, so I'm happy. Here are the results of the poll: Beat'em'ups clearly won! Well then, there will be a good beating sometime this year. But I have to ask you a question: Why was "Cyberpunk 2077" so hard to guess? Less than half got it right, even though I gave several hints about it (AAA, open world, this decade, first-person perspective, lots of press). Also the picture shows the implants on the arms and the "facial stumps" which I only know from Cyberpunk. How come I have misjudged this so much? But now it's time for the results of the quiz... first the names of the games as text, then the pictures, then the award ceremony. 1) Wii Sports The Wii launch and flagship title is a nobrainer, everyone got this one right. Answer rate: 100% Other suggestions: - 2) God of War 2 Answer rate: 96% Other suggestions: Bryan Fury 3) Cyberpunk 2077 As discussed in the intro text, it's a mystery to me why so few have recognised this. Answer rate: 48% Other suggestions: 8x Grand Theft Auto, 7x Saints Row, Anarchy Reigns, Far Cry, Wolfenstein, Pro Wrestling X, Wrestling, WWE 2K 4) The Sims 3 Answer rate: 87% Other suggestions: Playboy 5) Tekken 7 Answer rate: 90% Other suggestions: God of War, Mortal Combat 11, Soul Calibur 6) Yakuza 4 Answer rate: 80% Other suggestions: King of Fighters, Saints Rows 7) Persona 4 Answer rate: 68% Other suggestions: Catherine, Catherine Full Body, Hades, Narupo Shippuden 8.) Fire Emblem I think it was Path of Radiance? Heavens, now I'm not sure myself! :/ Anyway, bet you don't dare to do a Google image search for "Ike Fire emblem topless"? Answer rate: 67% Other suggestions: Kingdom Hearts, Atelier Ryza, Breath of Fire, Chrono Cross, FFVII: Crisis Core, Final Fantasy, Trails Of Cold Steel, Xenoblade. 9) Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes Answer rate: 62% Other suggestions: Final Fantasy XII, Devil May Cry, Gabriel Knight 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Xenoblade Chronicles 10) Super Punch Out Answer rate: 82% Other suggestions: Ready 2 rumble 11) Resident Evil 5. Good Wesker, just before he mutates into the final boss - and not far from the famous Boulder Punch scene. Answer rate: 55% Other suggestions: 3x Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, Dead or Alive, Duke Nukem forever, King of Fighters, Spec Ops: The Line 12) NieR:Automata Answer rate: 49% Other suggestions: 6x Final Fantasy, 6x Devil May Cry, Dead or Alive, Metal Gear Solid, Bayonetta 13) Dream Daddy Answer rate: 68% Other suggestions: Boyfriend Dungeon, Larry's Wet Dream, The Banner Saga 14) Street Fighter 4 Answer rate: 58% Other suggestions: 4x Asuras Wrath, Dragon Quest XI, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Nioh, Odama, Zelda 15) Knockout Kings Since "Knockout Kings" segues seamlessly into the "Fight Night" series, in my eternal mercy I let the latter count as well. Answer rate: 51% Other Suggestions: 4x Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, 3x Mike Tyson Boxing, Don King Boxing, Muhammad Ali Boxing, Foes of Ali, Boxing Legends of the Ring, Rocky 16) Muscle March Answer rate: 56% Other suggestions: 5x Cho Aniki, JoJos Bizarre Adventure, Space Channel 5 17) GTA 4 - the lost and damned The first DLC for GTA4, I thought Ballad of Gay Toni was better. Answer rate: 50% Other suggestions: 5x Mafia, 3x LA Noire, James Bond, Metal Gear Solid, Saints Row, Scarface 18.) Hitman. We see a half-naked guy with red pants in a Hitman game of the early 2000s. Answer rate: 23% Other suggestions: 11x Splinter Cell, 4x GTA, 3x Syphon Filter, Metal Gear Solid, Manhunt, Golden Eye, Mafia, Saints Row 2 19) Assassins Creed Odyssey Answer rate: 27% Other suggestions: 19x the Witcher, 6x Dragon Age, 3x Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, GTA5, Metal Gear Solid, Saints Row, Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls Online 20) Devil May Cry The pretty boy from the intro of the DmC remake is more famous than I thought. Answer rate: 61% Other suggestions: Dead Island, Far Cry, FarCry 3, Final Fantasy 21) Shen Mue 3 Why does an entry of such a well-known series have the same answer rate as #22, an obscure & ancient Amiga fps? Answer rate: 15% Other suggestions: 6x Fist of the North Star, 4x Soul Calibur, 3x Street Fighter, Castlevania, Conan, Kakuto Chojin, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Middle Earth: Mordor, Mortal Kombat, Motörhead, Naraka Bladepoint, ROME, Shadow of Rome, Spacelords, Tekken, Two Worlds 22) Citadel This is "Citadel remonstered", this year's graphics & gameplay update of the 1995 Amiga fps. [ Show youtube player ] (screenshot from 9:18) Answer rate: 15% Other suggestions: 6x Doom, 4x Wolfenstein 3D, 3x Duke Nukem, Witches, Elder Scrolls Arena, A Bards Tale, Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Heretic, Juggernaut, Towers II, Wizardry 23) Dynamite Cop "Die Hard Arcade" is close, but has different levels and, most importantly, a different intro (where the screenshot is from). Answer rate: 19% Other suggestions: Die Hard Arcade, 3x Too Human, Doom, Fallout New Vegas, Metal Gear Solid, Odin, Ring, Zeus 24) Time Commando The hardest title of this round - I've probably never seen a more abstruse time travel story. Answer rate: 9% Other suggestions: 3x Asterix & Obelix, 3x Runescape, black&white, Dragon Age, Gabriel Knight III, Gladiator, Gothic, Hulk Hogan, Prince of persia 25) Paradroid 90 The strange looking "Space Pirates" in the Paradroid remake. Answer rate: 28% Other suggestions: Cho aniki, Contra 4, DJ man ,Master of Orion 2, Phantasy Star, Tal, Xenon 2 Now here is the quiz picture again, followed by the Answers: Answer picture: Direct link: https://i.imgur.com/4uwICjL.png HIGH SCORE TABLE 01 - 25 points - ntl - lifer 01 - 25 points - mnc - Mangamaniac2171 01 - 25 points - rta - Marek 01 - 25 points - mmx - Nayuta 01 - 25 points - spz - The_BACH 01 - 25 points - mtc - Valdien 07 - 24 points - gsg - TheLastToKnow 08 - 24 points - rta - EmmaDansTonU 09 - 23 points - mnc - Mod-Team 10 - 23 points - spz - Striderblade 11 - 23 points - mnc - Gerhard S. 12 - 22 points - rta - EarthPainting 13 - 22 points - gsg - partykiller 14 - 21 points - eab - Havie 15 - 21 points - rtc - Antiriad2097 16 - 21 points - sh2 - Vino 17 - 20 points - eab - Nobby_UK 18 - 20 points - rpg - Calastellio 19 - 20 points - gpo - DocMoody 20 - 20 points - sh2 - BVBFabi09 21 - 19 points - eab - Little Havie 22 - 19 points - mtc - Parsnip 23 - 19 points - ftg - spooky 24 - 19 points - rta - malus 25 - 19 Points - hcg - excelsior 26 - 19 points - gav - Wizdom 27 - 18 points - rpg - Dezue 28 - 18 points - eab - Mailman 29 - 18 points - eab - darkwave 30 - 18 points - gms - hellermarie 31 - 18 points - rta - Illusionary 32 - 18 points - smu - BulletMagnet 33 - 18 points - gpo - OutOfBounds 34 - 17 points - mmx - Knuckles 35 - 17 points - hcg - dsparil 36 - 17 points - mmx - fedprod 37 - 17 Points - mmx - Klunky 38 - 16 points - hcg - windfish 39 - 16 points - gpo - KHlover 40 - 16 points - gpo - rave 41 - 16 points - wtd - jenoogle 42 - 16 points - mmx - Cutter Slade 43 - 16 points - rta - Gygas 44 - 15 points - mnc - HomiSite 45 - 15 points - rta - Blufunk 46 - 15 points - nto - Ande 47 - 15 points - ntl - Fizza 48 - 15 points - rta - PsionBolt 49 - 14 points - gpo - Eddie 50 - 14 points - spz - Geddoe 51 - 14 points - can - Dark Kariya 52 - 14 points - rpg - Zion 53 - 14 points - hcg - Son of Suzy Creamcheese 54 - 14 points - gav - Cube 55 - 14 points - wtd - zoltan.schwegler 56 - 14 points - m!g - geohound 57 - 14 points - ftg - LockeTribal 58 - 14 points - hcg - teroknor 59 - 14 points - ata - jgkspsx 60 - 14 points - mtc - Wibblewozzer 61 - 14 points - mtc - mssq 62 - 13 points - ftg - lurker 63 - 13 points - rkb - Luggsen 64 - 13 points - spz - Kal1m3r0 65 - 13 points - mmx - Lynx 66 - 13 points - rkb - Addearheart 67 - 13 points - mtc - FunnyJay 68 - 13 points - hcg - personman 69 - 13 points - mnc - Dolphin 70 - 12 points - sh2 - FoxSpitzer 71 - 12 points - can - M.Rick75 72 - 12 points - gpo - Navarone 73 - 12 points - rta - aLaxLuthor 74 - 12 points - rta - Mtlspider 75 - 11 points - gpo - FireSmoke 76 - 11 points - rkb - flof1ghterLegend 77 - 11 points - mtc - freshVeggie 78 - 11 points - mnc - elementalMaster 79 - 11 points - mtc - QFNS 80 - 11 points - mmx - Shades 81 - 11 points - mnc - Mitschel 82 - 11 points - wop - Desparion 83 - 11 points - can - Kulfy 84 - 10 points - gpo - GAMEPROFF 85 - 10 points - pop - Don Como 86 - 10 points - gms - hellifanboy 87 - 10 points - gms - kopyright 88 - 10 points - mmx - Dnamei 89 - 09 points - gpo - Bully 90 - 09 points - sh2 - Bonz 91 - 09 points - wtd - svenoble 92 - 09 points - can - Jean-Luc Hazek 93 - 09 points - m!g - Red XIII 94 - 09 points - rkb - salversurfer 95 - 09 points - ntl - Matt_Barber 96 - 09 points - hcg - snake 97 - 09 points - ntl - Dogorilla 98 - 09 points - mnc - Yeboah17 99 - 08 points - gpo - Konsolomio 100 - 8 points - ntl - Krull 101 - 7 points - gav - Yoshi 102 - 7 points - ftg - cubby 103 - 7 points - pop - Sascha 104 - 6 points - gms - Black Friday 105 - 6 points - rkb - Kirika1987 106 - 5 points - nto - 4C8en 107 - 5 points - rkb - Grandhanate 108 - 4 points - gms - RC2225 109 - 4 points - mmx - LittleChoco 110 - 4 points - pop - Daiyama 111 - 4 points - sh2 - godzella 112 - 3 points - ftg - Destria 113 - 3 points - ntl - Cacuman 114 - 3 points - smu - Guigui 115 - 3 points - rtc - stayAwhile 116 - 2 points - ntl - Anti-Matter 117 - 2 points - pop - PUH 118 - 1 points - ata - JeremiahJT ata - Atari Age can - PC Canard eab - English Amiga Board ftg - fontgeek gav - Gaming Village gms - Gamestar gpo - Gamepro gsg - Gamersglobal hcg - hardcore gaming 101 m!g - Man!iac mmx - Multimediaxis mnc - old maniac mtc - Metacouncil ntl - NintendoLife nto - NTower pop - Powerplay rkb - Rocket Beans rpg - RPG Maker rta - ResetEra rtc - RetroCanteen sh2 - Shock² smu - Shmups spz - Spazio PC wop - world of players wtd - Wasted So then, an award ceremony: Congratulations to Mangamaniac2171, lifer, Nayuta, The_BACH, Marek and Valdien... you all got FULL POINTS and won this round! "Why was "Cyberpunk 2077" so hard to guess?" - never played it (so far, it is actually the only game on the list I would consider playing sometime). If you haven't played the game that the naked dude is in or by accident see the naked dude in promotional material... I really wonder how in the heck you're ever going to find out which game it is. Mad respects to everyone who got even 5 of these.
So yeah the only ones I knew were #1, #2 and #4 because they're REALLY obvious. I thought I knew #19, but I was way off. This one was... gnarly. |

June Quiz - Retro Pixel 2022 After last month's theme gave several people a strange browsing history and caused some discontent, we're falling back to familiar territory for June: the annual Retro Pixel Quiz with zoomed in game characters. We have 25 games with (mostly) 2D graphics from the years 1985 to 2023, so as usual old & new combined for your enjoyment and scaled up so far you could count all the pixels. Have fun! We're looking for the name of the game and not the name of the character (even if they are sometimes identical), and if you recognise the series that's enough - you don't have to name the exact instalment. Deadline is Thursday 30th June, enter via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/ Here comes the quiz, good luck: Direct link: https://i.imgur.com/JfDfNe9.png |
