Amiga e-mail client
I have been working on a piece for the December issue about setting up e-mail and it got me thinking. As you guys know YAM is really the only e-mail client we have for classic systems but it uses MUI. Is it possible to create an e-mail client just using the standard Intuition or BOOPSI? I find YAM to be a bit heavy and the window crowded, I would love a simple mail client that I can just read and reply to e-mails with a simple interface that could run on a HiRes PAL screen for example. If I remember correctly OS3.2 offers more functionality with Intuition or was it BOOPSI? Anyways, sorry if I am completely off the mark here but I have been wondering why something like this has not happened, as it seems like something that would be most useful to Amiga users.

There's a non-MUI email client included as part of OS3.9. Probably also some in http://aminet.net/comm/mail

simplemail is a very good email client, in my opinion, but I'm pretty sure it uses MUI.

I tried Simple Mail but it also uses MUI and is not compatible with the latest AmiSSL unfortunately.

It will work with stunnel4. Set up stunnel4 on a remote system to forward your delivery (SMTP) and polling (IMAP for Simple Mail I think) over SSL. Then point Simple Mail at your Stunnel4 setup. I've done this before but Amigas just aren't powerful enough to handle and search large mail spools quickly. |
