Summer Chill 2022: D/Generation
I thought we could try something a little different for summer break. This is a play-through where you can save your game and continue later at your own pace. The aim is to get as far as you can. Also, to encourage people to update everyone on their progress and add a little friendly competition if you wish, we can keep track of the number of survivors you rescue. I recommend posting an update after each game session where you advance. At any time you can press S to display your stats/score - post screenshots of that. I'll keep scores for the 3 weeks of break but feel free to continue to finish the game after that. This action adventure game is a little different to most on Amiga and I'd encourage giving it a try. D/Generation [lemon] [hol] You are a courier, delivering a package to a genetics lab where everything has gone horribly wrong. Work your way through 10 floors of the building, rescuing people and destroying mutants. Second button or T to throw grenades. ENTER to talk with survivors. Press U to view weapons/items, ENTER to select. ALT-R restarts level. ESC to pause. ALT-S saves game. CTRL-R restores saved game. Saved games load at the beginning of the level you saved on. If you prefer to use save states, use them only at the start of each level. Scoring Ends: 23:59 (UK Time) on Saturday 2nd July 2022 Get the Game: Survivors Rescued: 45 - malko 43 - Stevengton 37 - Biscuit 8 - Mitch J. Frenzal Extras: All new players are welcome at any time. Feel free to join in malko. It's such a good game. One of the best and still holds up.
I've made it through the first two floors. Think I got everything. Found the hidden switches etc. Had some tense moments, especially with an eye sensor I missed. But these two floors are fairly easy, really good intro to the mechanics. Rescued: 11 |

Hi SoDa7. Yes, you can use the AGA version. That's cool. As far as I know the gameplay is the same.

Another floor complete. I blasted a survivor in a tricky room near the end (was gobbled up anyway) and lost a few lives. Need to be quick and accurate for a perfect run.
What a charming place to start on 83. Surrounded by traps. Rescued: 18 |

Another exciting day in the tower. I met John of Maryland the Bringer of Death, and the neurotic River who I tried to set up a date with.
On floor 86 now. Looks like there are two routes off floor 85, I took the longer one for extra lives etc. Rescued: 30 |

I wasn't planning on finishing it today but they called an airstrike and I got caught up in it. I had less than 5 mins to finish the last level which took a few bad endings to get used to doing it quickly.
From Floor 86 onwards it gets a lot harder to rescue people and make it past the turrets. The trippy stuff in the computers is so 90s VR. Had loads of fun with this. Rescued: 37 |

I'm sure the E/Generation could clone you for extra productivity, or gaming. |

Even if the closing date is due, I am still playing it on my small spare time and will soon post a screenshot. Actually have rescued 22 people

By the way, does anyone figured out what has to be done "inside" the computer on level 86, scene 69 ?

I tried that computer a few times and couldn't outrun the 'creature'. I wondered if it was only intended to be a sneak peek into the computer VR. Not sure.
You are getting close to the finish now. |

I have tested it a few times as well and have seen that depending on "where" you get caught, the scene 69 turn again in an insecure state and it happens also that the door to scene 68 closes itself letting you stuck here.
I am wondering if something "useful" to the game has to be done here? Sad that I couldn't find any information either on the manual nor internet... |

It's a mystery. I couldn't get any different results from it. I don't remember what happened with doors but I never got stuck. I might take another look at it.

D/Genertion is a great game. Playing it again and finishing it for the first time was a real pleasure.
Just for the fun out of it, here is my screenshot : And as a bonus I have finally finished* something started BitD, meaning the mapping of the game. *restarted would be more correct level 80 : level 81 : level 82 : level 83 : level 84 : level 85 : level 86 : level 87 : level 88 : level 89 : |

Those maps look amazing. I love the style of this game, always been a bit of an isometric junkie. Great to see the maps up on HoL. Very helpful too, I could see the room after the 6 teleports on floor 87. It was the only bit I didn't explore this time. Been there before but forgot where it led. |

We can thanks TCD for the posting of the maps on HOL.
Yes, a brilliant game with a very good mix between maze and difficulty. And the isometric 3D is well handled. I only regret 1 bug : on some levels, a red/black "guy" runs after you to kill you as soon as he touches you. If you manage to block him behind a door, and change screen, by magic he will follow you on the other screen. I will try to replay part of level 86 to record what I describe. |

As you can see I manage to "jail" the red/black guy (no way out for him as doors are closed). Nevertheless he follows me on the other screen...
