Thanks!

I used to spend ages playing that game when I was younger. I think it was on a magazine coverdisk (CU Amiga maybe). I never actually completed it though - it got far too difficult for me! Has anyone finished it?

PD game?!
Rather a PD conversion of a COMMERCIAL game on the C64, released back in 1983!

Egyptian Run is it. It came on a disk called "21 Classics" or somesuch, along with such games as Circuit Wars, Go Moku and a platformer where you had a yellow guy who could fall down a hole to change his bullet type so it would kill opponents of that type. I got it from a PD company but one of the menus suggested it was CU Amiga coverdisk #21 or #22. It had section names like "Variety Vanguard" and "Arcade Arena".

Edit: Did anyone actually complete Egyptian Run?

this is the disk you want for the Egyptian run game. Something weird with the image though, like it was made with an OS3 only file system ?!? not the same one I upped.

I never got past the first jeep stage though. Much prefured the bignonia Aztec Challenge which was at least possible

Or you could try the coverdisk here http://amr.abime.net/issue_441_coverdisks

This is where I remember first getting it from (I've probably still got the original disk!)

I have a 'friend' who claims to have completed Egyptian Run on his first go! I know, I know, it is a quite literally an unbelievable claim. Not to mention the fact that this guy seems to have very little in his 'kit bag' to enable him to accomplish such an incredible feat. Hell, he even has a cleft lip and curly pogga hair. Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy, but a prolific liar.

Egyptian run was a good one. I remember completing it a couple of times-as I recall when you got to a certain point your car became a missile and you had to steer it towards a pyramid in the background.

As you'd just previously been avoiding objects rather than trying to hit them, it could be quite tricky.

I once had a friend. He completed egyptian run on his very FIRST go. It was the most incredible moment of my entire life. I have spent literally 4.34 million billion hours trying to crack this impossibly fiendish game - yet have never got even close. I am as quick as a drunk snail relative to 'his' scolded cat. He is off in the big smoke now. You would not believe the taxes he pays with his good looks. Damn I miss him - but not his skills on that darn game. BTW "arcade_legend" (if that is your real name), is that your real name?

As slight aside, I had real problems running this game to begin with. Fixed with increase to extra watts in the C14g. Hope this helps.

DtwoF, you sound like a pretty amazing guy, you shouldn't hark after that long lost 'friend', he sounds like a complete tw*t. When you talk of how it was the most incredible moment of my (your) life, when he (he) completed the game, it concerns me.

Reading between the lines, I would say your life is far richer and more interesting than some allegedly high earning midget in the city. I mean, have you actually ever seen this money he 'earns'. Hell, i bet he isnt even 6 foot and has resorted to buying a wife off the internet.

Rock on DtwoF you're a winner! And your knowledge of the way to best manipulate the C14g chip, leaves me thinking you probably know how to entertain the ladies too....b*stard, you've got it all!
