New up-to-date ADF tool for Windows

Now I've not exactly been following everything in this community all the time, so I'm not sure if a more recent and much better alternative to ADFOpus/ADFView has come about of late. Anyone able to recommend something?

I'm hoping for some snazzy, easy-to-follow program to use for any quick editing of a disk image, ya see. I look forward to the response!

Yes, I see. Well, for quick editing of Amiga disk images on my Windows PC, I use WinUAE and TrackEd.

But then I might as well just use WinUAE and Workbench at that rate.

What's the problem with that? TrackEd runs under Workbench.

I was looking for a program which can be run under Windows - outside of emulators - where you can edit contents and other bits about a disk image. Like the aforementioned ADFOpus and ADFView. Except both of those programs are old, badly coded, and just generally crap.

You're right. As those tools aren't being developed any more, WinUAE is the best choice, and for editing disk sectors directly there's TrackEd. That combination allows you to edit Amiga disk files any way you want.

I could always give you the source code of my old ADF editor / viewer as I found it again recently.. Its in Delphi v6 and was fun to write at the time and is quite well commented.

Unfortunately I dont have Delphi 6 anymore to compile it up myself.

If you're worried about installing the latest version of WinUAE with all the bells and whistles. then don't. Even very old versions of WinUAE emulate the floppy drive well enough to edit ADF files. I use WinUAE 0.8.8r8 for this, with a vanilla WB3.1 hardfile and various disk utilities from Aminet installed.

Hmm, as long as you're not on Win98 or use any fancy GFX filters there should be no need to use 0.8.8r8 for WB stuff. I mean it's not like there will be any FPS problem with WB

It's just that installation of 0.8.8r8 is so simple that it's as easy as installing ADFOpus or ADFView. No DirectX updates, etc.

You could try ADFMAGIC by Alpha One here
It is only a BETA at the moment but if you leave some comments of what you are looking for I am sure they will be added to the next release.
