Smile REQ: Vangelis 1492 Music Disk

Hi all!

I remember about 10 years ago seeing a Vangelis music disk in an FTP files list, but I didn't have access to the Net so I couldn't get it. I believe it was the 1492: Conquest of Paradise music disk, based on the movie of the same name. I've searched through various demo archives and Google but haven't been able to find it. Sorry, I don't know which group made it.

Thanks for any help!

Also i'll upload another demo which is funny - a take off of Golden Axe

Big grin Vangelis demo

Hi |cy[ool!

I think the Vangelis demo requires Kick 1.3 and I only have 3.0. (Because I only own an A1200) I keep meaning to purchase Amiga Forever but most of the stuff I use works fine under 3.0 so I just haven't bothered. However, I don't think that's the right demo (though I really want to see it because I love Vangelis' music) because I'm sure it was called the 1492 music disk and came on two disks.

That Golden Axe parody was... interesting.

Thanks for uploading the demo though. I'll keep it and try it later when I have a 1.3 ROM.

1492

I remember so vividly seeing it in an FTP files list. I'm almost positive that it was atleast 2 disks but I can't for the life of me remember which group produced it. I only know that I had never heard of the group before so it's probably pretty rare.

If you happen to find it, I'd be very pleased.

Big grin Found!

I just found it! Created by a group named "The End":

1492 Conquest Of Paradise - Music demo (December 1993)

http://www.lls.se/~volley/theend/TheEndTeam.html

They don't seem to have an on-line copy but I'll contact them and see if they can send it to me. Yeah!

And here are the ADFs! (In the zone)

All three of them are 100% full.
I just created them.
The disks are FFS-formatted to get this extremely huge amount of data on ONE disk, so you must use Kickstart 2.0 or higher.

[EDIT] Set sound to Mono in WinUAE, otherwise you only get one channel (right or left)!
In all honesty, I thought my right speaker was actually defective

@ andreas_ hmm..so basically you downloaded my lha's, transferred them to floppy via the uploaded instructions and then uploaded floppies for user comfort. that is so nice!
So pleased u found said demo and completlely annoyed the creators of this demo....
Next time find the demo yourself, don't annoy the creatorrs of said demo and claim credit for your first victory please.

P.S I'm still after the failed 2disk version

Unfortunately this is WRONG. To get these to disk, you need to read the README too. I didn't know there was a readme at all, and the text *included* in the lhas doesn't tell you anything about *formatting* the disk with FFS, only *installing*.
Because it didn't work after a mere FFS install, I needed help. And I got help.

I had a problem getting the lhas to disk and lha had a problem get a file bigger than 800K to disk even though there was enough space after calculating...
I asked xeye and he was so kind to help me.
I didn't annoy anybody, fool.
Before you post the wildest assertions into the world, get some information first.

And check out your PMs. This is not meant to be a "public combat", unless you insist to.

Big grin Great!

Thanks so much for uploading the demo, |cy[ool. Where'd you find it?

Thanks for putting up the ADF files, andreas.

I was disappointed by the demo, however. I guess I was expecting some cool effects and possibly an original interpretation of the theme song, but perhaps I would've been more impressed back in 1993.

I did get in contact with one of The End members and he said that the group was having a difficult time hunting down the files and that he thinks they lost them. I told him about this board so hopefully he's signed up and grabbed the copies.

Oh, and if you enjoyed the 1492 theme song then I suggest picking up the original soundtrack. It's wonderfully beautiful and relaxing music, definitely my favourite Vangelis album.
