MacOS X 10.8 F12?

Hi All, im running MacOS X 10.8 and i've just installed FSUAE on my brand spanking new MacMini but I cant get the menu up using F12. I've tried fn + F12, Command + F12 etc etc but no menu - plain F12 just raises my sound volume.

Im prolly just being a MacOS noob (this is my 1st Mac since the 90's) but help would be appreciated.

EDIT: yeah it was a dashboard shortcut, turning it off fixed the problem, cheers.

Just "F12" alone on Macs by default does not actually trigger the F12, instead you get a special key press .
- Fn + 12 will normally activate the F12 key.
- But F12 may be intercepted by the OS X desktop (at least in windowed mode).
- You can add another key to the combo, such as Cmd, so the desktop shortcut won't activate

That gives you Fn+Cmd+F12 (which is really just Cmd+F12).
(In fullscreen, you can probably drop Cmd).

- Also documented here: http://fengestad.no/fs-uae/keyboard-shortcuts

What I've done on the Macbook to avoid this is to:
- Use a system setting to invert the F-keys / special keys, so you'll get an F12 key press when you press... F12
- Disable the F12 shortcut to open the Dashboard in preferences.

I've got it sorted now, F12 was mapped to the dashboard.
