Replace internal DB9 "mouse" cable

Hi, I need an extension for the PCB-to-mouse port cable (to fix it to the rear panel of my towerized A1200. I need just 2-3 centimeters more than the original cable, so I would avoid a serial extension cord: they are all around 1.5 meters

Do you know if I can replace it with a standard "old-ish" serial header port for PCs, like this? It seems to be identical, even for the PCB side:

There's two kinds of PC serial port pigtails. Ones that are connected 1:1 and ones where the D9 footprint is placed on the header and the flat cable goes 1-1 2-6 3-2 4-7 etc. on the D9 end.

The one you need is the 1-1 2-6 3-2 4-7 one. If the one you get is incorrect, you can desolder it and rewire it, takes a few minutes.

I ended up stacking a piece of flat (taken from an IDE cable) in the middle of the original connector
