A1200/A600 4xIDE Buffered IDE Interface from AMIGA KIT

4xIDE Buffered IDE interface for the Commodore-Amiga 1200 or 600.

This high quality adapter permits up to a maxium of four IDE devices to be connected to the motherboard's IDE header with full buffering.

Features 2x 40-pin boxed IDE connectors (primary/secondary) and 1x boxed 44-pin IDE connector (primary).

Coming soon: For Amiga 1200 users, an optional Gayle adapter board can be purchased separately to speed up IDE transfers. It simply plugs onto the top of the Gayle chip and connects to the buffered IDE interface with the supplied ribbon cable.

To use the secondary port on ROM 2.0, 3.0 or 3.1, the IDEFIX software package should be installed.

Large hard drives with capacity over 4GB supported on OS 3.5, 3.9 and 4.1.

This interface is fully buffered. Features insulation on underside of PCB to protect the adapter. Supplied with 44-pin IDE cable and printed manual.

This adapter can be used in both a desktop or tower case.

Unlike some hobbyist IDE adapters, this advanced, modern design inhibits read errors and false IRQ's.

No, its different. Designed for FastATA.

No it won't be as fast as Elbox FastATA. Our IDE is meant as a mid range option in terms of price and performance.

The higher PIO numbers reach far higher speeds.

Microcontrollers such as Freescale MPC5200B wich runs at 400Mhz (ouch amiga) have an ata4 controller 16,7MB/s. Or the NXP SC2x3 again microcontroller runs at the

same 400Mhz (powerPC 603E) core (full 32 bit ouch amiga) , has USB2 ports , 100mbps lan (ouch) , 760 mips (an 68060 at 120Mhz : 160 Mips ouch amiga .Has DMA eh amiga? PIO6 so max 25 MB/s, SDRAM controller, 64MB 32bit ram, 32MB 32 bit flash. So a bit overkill for pio6 but a pio6 chip alone is very difficult to find.

Any modern arm processor is faster then the fastest Motorola chip. also native 64 bit. And we are talking about 32 bit and 16 bit.

Sound output of amiga compared with an VS1053 : 192kHz sampling rate. 18 bit DAC , Plays MP3, ogg vorbis, WMA and even not protected AAC THD 0.07% general midi synthesizer, polyphony max 31 notes 45Mhz crystal . Sound comparable with the sound blaster 16.

As the pinout of the A1200 Gayle IC appears the same as the A600 Gayle, what is the reason for the additional adaptor only being compatible with the 1200?

The new FastIDE A1200 adapter connects to the Amiga Kit 4xIDE Buffered Interface and enhances the speed of IDE transfers.

It can be configured from PIO0 to PIO4 using the AmigaKit 4xIDE Prefs software (available as download).
