Very first, "pirated" PPC port of Quake

Yea, looking for this gem.
It was called "PPCQuake" or "QuakePPC" and was released before ClickBoom made its own conversion and also months before ID Software released Quake's source code. Anyone?

Apparently AmiQuake

http://www.cu-amiga.co.uk/news/quake.html

That link does not have it. Just the name. And it is not the same as the current version from NovaCoder.

IIRC, first Amiga Quake version was made by Maxim/DC but that version was 68k, not PPC.

Ah, true. The link is about 68k. Not sure there was an illegal PPC version.

Along the same lines as this, is there any place to get Heretic II from? I'd be willing to buy it, but can't seem to find it for sale, I thought Hyperion published it originally, since the demo is on the Freespace CD.

Was going to pick up Shogo and Gorky 17, but missed their sale by a day... might still end up picking them up now that it seems I may have gotten my PPC Amiga working correctly!

Would also like to test out PPC Quake. Actually make use of that overly expensive board...

It's not that for sure. I've seen it around 1997 on one of the first Blizzards PPC which hit Poland market, in my local computer store and it was blazing fast back then.

By the time the PPC port came it was probably all legit ?

I remember a very early 68k port.

Was not, for sure. I don't know the reasons (probably some legal issues related to Phase5 and Haage&Partner) but it disappeared from Aminet just few weeks after release.

Wasn’t there an illegal PPC port called FastQuake or something?

It was using PowerUp, not WarpUp. And definitely not legit. Something like FastQuakePPC v5 / QuakePPC v10 - I think it was available a little time in Aminet, too until it got washed out.

Very nice !! Yeah this was released when someone got hold of the source code (illegally) .. Played it a lot at release of the PPC cards ... Really good port for being an illegal product ... Respect !!

The 1st quake ppc port was uploaded to aminet in 1999 but 2 days later they removed it saying "was illegal"
clickboom do not like this port and forced aminet to remove it

Always thought that the first PPC port of Quake was for WarpOS. I have to check the date when I'm home.

I know the author of that port very well and I think Hedeon knows him too.
