Removing the Agnus chip

Is it possible with common tools like a screwdriver to remove the agnus chip off the a500 mobo? I don't have any special tool for this job and I don't want to harm the mobo.

Also, the mobo I'm speaking has kick 1.2 and 8371 agnus. There's no board revision on the board and I wonder whether it's Rev 3.x or 5.x

How can I learn it?

It´s very unlikely that you have a Rev 5 A2000 Mainboard, because there are only 5 of them ever produced and never sold officially

A500 it is

I never had a big box amiga unfortunately, not even now. It's nearly impossible to get one in Turkey for there weren't many and the owners don't want to part with them, especially not with the 4000s!

I read the possible revision numbers from amiga hardware

Yes, it is fairly easy, you just need 2 very small flat ended screw drivers (the all metal precision ones) that will fit in the notches on diagonal opposites of the socket, just gently push them in and lift the chip a little at a time on either side, you need 2 screw drivers to stop it snapping back in when you lift the other side.

Thank you, didn't want to try before having an approval of someone who did know what to do

Now it's a bit scratched but I hope it won't keep the chip from working.
