Only fine so far as you didn't notice the screams of innocent Chip RAM you were overwriting with your blits while moving forward.

You have to allocate these words at the end of your bitmap buffer, otherwise you are trashing unallocated memory, destroying your graphics or those from other programs. Or even destryoing MemChunk Headers, which results in a corruption of the free-memory lists.
