Agree on the original arcade Tetris, although Twintris was great fun. Played this a lot.

Project Firestart could be really awesome on the Amiga. Absolutely'd love to see this, but I guess this would be a huge task.

That would be great to have with updated graphics and music. One of the few games that I still play on the C64.

If I could ask for another project? (Or rather the resurrection of an old one)

Add CDDA playback to the CDload.

My memory fails me but I believe you ran into issues where it worked in WinUAE but didn't work in the real hardware? Probably because the HW is broken and requires undocumented software workarounds that isn't emulated.

Could it help if the AmigaOS CDDA functions were disassembled and understood? Some work was being done on this for CDTV extended kickstart 2.35

Yeah, more than a port that would be a redo from scratch

* Re-do Bagman so it runs properly on a A500 (1 vote): I could do it in a whirl with my previous arcade engines + the existing C++ code from the reverse. But interest is low.
* Port Pengo to the Amiga (5 votes): Reverse is partially done (I started it in 2010) and I improved at reversing Z80 with Karate Champ, so it would be a breeze with my previous engines.
* Port Xevious to the Amiga (7 votes): as explained above, a NeoGeo version (68k) is in the works and the author saw that it's agnostic enough so an amiga port is doable. I have a B/W title screen ATM but it seems to run
* Create AGA version of Cadaver (4 votes): SH*TLOAD OF WORK BUT I LOVE THAT GAME
* Create AGA version of Lotus (18 votes Wow!) I have the source code, no AGA assets but already colored the cars for SC2 AGA so maybe something like that could be done, plus nice additions like changing music, 1-player mode with big screen, reworked pics, etc...
* Port Donkey Kong to the Amiga (8 votes): same guy doing Xevious Neogeo port. Didn't start the work but would be much easier than Xevious. If Xevious is done, that one will be a breeze.
* Fix the zillion bugs left in whdload mantis: of course that will continue. I'm pretty sure alll bugs in the base will never be all closed but we'll try.
Well despite my votes, from this December post I would say post the Neo-Geo stuff um ports of 8-bit games. Mostly because "build on the work of others while it's there".

OP is an ambitious post nonetheless, it would be neat with a done, needs work/gfx/snd/music, not yet, rejected list for those who haven't followed this thread. (such as me ) Not least to get volunteering/cheering on.

Photon your post isn't the clearest but what I understand is that you'd like to see "easy" stuff done, so do I

Donkey Kong will happen, eventually, when Mark resumes work on it, but he's currently taken with ... my in-progress 68k transcode of Galaxian, that will also happen, on both platforms.

You should code on what inspires you.

...to go with the poll. If you're 8% along or 80% (or if you're even done, just need resources) would probably have influenced my vote! And there's something to be said for picking a passion project to start, and then just ask for stuff. It's happened quite a few times that members get excited and come through.

Okay then, with some added game in the end

Finish Karate Champ => no motivation ATM
Re-do Bagman so it runs properly on a A500 => no motivation ATM
Port Pengo to the Amiga => will probably transcode fully that one
Port Xevious to the Amiga => DONE (still a few minor changes that I'll do soon)
Create AGA version of Cadaver => won't happen
Create AGA version of Lotus => first AGA title screen showing. Not much more done ATM
Port Donkey Kong to the Amiga => waiting for Mark transcode
Fix the zillion bugs left in whdload mantis => still stuff done from time to time
Port Galaxian to the ECS amiga => in progress, looks promising

Still pointing at STe Outrun improvement, the source is available on request if i remember; if is just matter to change the bitmap rendering order maybe should be a discretely fast one, but am not a coder

As a reminder of how much improvement was made:

Cheers.

Yeah my comment was just explaining how I voted and then checked some posts on the last page.

ok small update for those interested:

- Finish Karate Champ => starting again from Z80 transcode (ditched my old 68000 source)
- Re-do Bagman so it runs properly on a A500 => will probably do that from Z80 transcode
- Port Pengo to the Amiga => DONE
- Port Xevious to the Amiga => DONE
- Create AGA version of Cadaver => won't happen
- Create AGA version of Lotus => stand-by
- Port Donkey Kong to the Amiga => once Mark is done with other projects, it will start
- Fix the zillion bugs left in whdload mantis => not doing a lot right now I must admit.

- Finish Karate Champ => DONE
- Re-do Bagman so it runs properly on a A500 => DONE + Super Bagman
- Port Pengo to the Amiga => DONE
- Port Xevious to the Amiga => DONE
- Create AGA version of Cadaver => won't happen
- Create AGA version of Lotus => stand-by, not sure if the AGA upgrade would be worth the effort. My graphic skills are limited (as you could see above), and it's a lot of work. Supercars 2 had a lot less objects zooming and all, all those need rework/color enhancement. Not only the cars. A FMODE=3 AGA speedup could be worth it though.
- Port Donkey Kong to the Amiga => once Mark is done with other projects, it will start, waiting eagerly on that one. Mark also has Vulgus RE'ed in store.
- Fix the zillion bugs left in whdload mantis => not doing a lot right now I must admit, but I think that when I finish Tetris I'll attack the mountain with my toothpick.

I have another project ongoing it is Galaga amiga port. Got to work on it next year.

Someone sent me the Atari STE/falcon? adaptation of Galaga 90 sources. But as I probably said before if it needs a 68040 to run properly it won't be as fun. We'll see.

It would be amazing to have Pole Position 1 and 2 on the Amiga 1200, the arcade board has a Z80 as the main CPU and I see you've got a lot of experience with that one
