Need help for my Amiga 3000
Recently I purchased used A3000 motherboard to replace my MB that had leaked battery and was causing some problems. The replacement MB came w/o any chips, so I had to remove my and replace it. My MB revision was v9, but I received v7.3. There are few differences, like 2 extra ROM sockets and silkscreen is different. From what I have noticed on the web that v7 MB was using some kind of ROM board which was plugged in the other ROM IC slots. Right now the A3000 is not booting and my questions are:
1. Can I plug my 3.1 ROMs in original spots, same as v9 MB? 2. What are the default jumper settings for 25MHz MB, no accelerator. 3. Replacement MB does not have battery, will it work w/o it? My v9 was working... I did some trouble shooting and found out that the Keyboard buffer is not being emptied, which suggests that the CPU is not working, or ROMs are not working, will this be safe to assume? I do have A3640, but first I need to get the basic setup running Any help is appreciated, Thank you |

Just some notes:
1) you will need a Rom tower to use the 3.1 Roms, or you will need a set of 3.1 Roms in the proper format (different chip type) or an older rom (at least for testing). I might have a set, I'll post later tonight 2) No battery is not an issue Not really sure on the jumpers, and I would try without a 3640 first Good luck Quote:

Did you plug your ROMs into the ROM tower, then plug the ROM tower onto the rev7 board?

Don't you need a working battery on a 3000 since it stores the HD setting needed to boot?

I got ROMS from desantii , but first try is a no go on both type of ROMS.
I need to sit down and see if I missed anything, it may be possible that the MB is gone, but I'm optimistic Any advanced trouble shooting to the component level would help, I got the schematic printed on 11x17in. |

Slow down the ROM access times, that may cure the problem.

No go...... right now I thinking of doing this
I will spend more time over the weekend on this, I may go back to the old MB and maybe find and fix the original problem. And because of my impatience I need to replace 2 PLCC sockets, they cracked during chip removal, very brittle sockets. |

I'd try it with original (1.4?) kickstart in ROM tower.
I never had luck installing 3.1 in A3000. |

I put everything back to my old MB and it's working, still same problem, but at least it's still alive...., looks like there is something wrong with v7 MB or I really need the rom tower to get it work, I may sell it for parts.

With the roms I sent you should not need the rom tower, I am 95% sure of that..the 1.4s were from a 6.1 version with no rom tower

Remember that KS1.4 is 68030 only.
