Downloading screenshots

Why does HOL fight me in every way when I try to download a screenshot from it? Why is this made so impossible?

If we have to actively block downloading screenshots, why not at least give an option to correctly link to a screenshot?

Not for me. It works on Mobygames and other sites, but not on Hall of Light. If I click "Save linked file," I get a .html file instead of an image file.

I have the exact same issue since HOL v3 launch.
Retested right now and still impossible to save any image when the popup image is open (using latest FF). No right click menu entry to save the image.
I can save it before opening the pop-up though or use oldhol as it works there.

@rsn8887

You don't have to click and start the slideshow, right-click download image first on each image. You can also save the page, in which case you will find all the images of the slideshow in the downloaded folder!

@rsn8887 This works for me on FF: right click on image an select "Open image in new tab". Switch to new tab and "Save image as..."

I hope this helps.

Ok thanks. I can save the image if I right click on the thumbnail, but then it only saves the small thumbnail preview, not the big image. I would like the big image. Open in new tab just gives me an empty white tab, no image.

Also:
Hall of Light has become much slower for me since the latest visual update.

And sometimes it doesn't correctly go back when I click the back button of the browser.

Has anyone else noticed that?

HOL V3
Right Click - Save - Produces a Preview - 894_preview2.png (76KB)
Right Click - Open in New Tab - Produces Proper screenshot - 894_screen2.png (36KB)

Oldhol
Right Click - Save - Produces a preview Screenshot in jpg - 894_screen2.jpg (4KB)
Right Click - Open in New Tab - Produces Proper screenshot in jpg - 894_screen2.jpg.jpg (17KB)

Seems to have always worked for me in Chrome on Windows..

Yes HOL V3 (For me ) is also a balls up for all the reasons you have mentioned and other, this is why I always stay with oldhol.

I never get the "empty white tab, no image" with chrome?

on Firefox you can use Ctrl-I to open the "page info" panel
when the popup image is open, press ctrl+i and after "media" section

I'm trying to download the Populous II box, in the list of media I find the desired image.

Strangely, in the "page info" tool it cannot do the preview and also indicates the wrong size, if I save the file it works.

It works even if I open the direct link.

It was always just a temporary site. Time to move on I think.

The allegations in the first post are baseless as I have not done anything to stop screenshot downloads.

I'll check the carousel to see if there is anything I can do to make it better. I'm just a single person rather than a large development team and I have a job and family so please stop with the negativity.

It's gone? That's disappointing; new HOL doesn't display very well at all in iBrowse.

I'll still create a skin for Amigas but there are ungrateful members here posting links to the old site even though it was just a courtesy.

Being able to view HOL on an actual Amiga (without cheating with AmiFox!) was really quite nice. There aren't many sites that we can still browse. It would be appreciated, it really would.

I've restored it for now. I'll try to get the old skin done as soon as I can.

Get a better browser,

No issues here at all using Edge (so assume chrome won't have any issues either.)
