Online Level editor for Leander

Here is something I knocked together yesterday.
http://flashtro.com/page.php?id=2378
There is still a lot of work to do
Only part of level1 is supported so far but if enough interest is shown I will add more.

The produced save file should work with the current WHDLOAD-LEANDER

Let me know what you think.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section. If so please move

Great, thank you! Any chance to use it with floppy version?

That depends on what cracked version and what packer the cracker used.
For the floppy Skidrow version the file LEVEL1 must be packed with the same packer the cracker used(I believe Power packer) and then put back on the disk.
This may be difficult because it is a NON-DOS disk and the files must be put on the disk at a specific place and in a specific order.
So the edited level when packed must be the same size or smaller than the original otherwise it may overwrite other files.

Unless someone wants to re-crack it and use a file loader instead of a track loader. Then there shouldn't be a problem.

Hi
How did you work out the level structure? Are the levels for the WHDLOAD version not packed?
I ask because I've been after the level data for a while now and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

What game are you intrested in editing?

I would usually start by looking at a uncompressed WinUae savestate -Find the map and then compare against Whdload version and then ADF.
Objects can be Very Tricky to figure out.

and intresting project musashi9

I'm really more interested in using the level/character data to try and re-create Leander within the XNA dev environment, as a way of introducing myself to both XNA and C#.

I thought it would be fun

I ripped the de-packer and unpacked the levels myself.
I am working on a port of the de-packer to include in the flash editor, so people can load and de-pack everything within flash.

Whdload will load the de-packed files so there is no need to re-pack a file once you have edited a level( but because of how the game de-packs files you must add 8bytes to the start of the de-packed file).

I am almost finished with the enemies/objects editor section of this tool. The only problem is the START LEVEL position/CAVE ENTRANCE position/EXIT LEVEL position are stored inside one of the games exe files. So once your new level is complete I will have to add a patching tool for this exe file to upload your new positions.

The level structure goes like this
Each byte is a number.
Each number is a tile (00=first tile 01=second tile ect.....all the way up to ff)
The width of the map=240 bytes
0,1,2,3,4..........240
0,1,2,3,4..........240
0,1,2,3,4..........240
ect.......
