rawread: Making use of partial raw images
When rawread is told to do a raw dump of an Amiga disk, it will create an extended ADF. That is a fact.
Though, if -- because of space limits with old Amigas like mine -- rawread is only told to image some chunks by calling it this way: rawread -f dsk -s 0 -e 44 -r -x -1 it will *ALWAYS* (!!) write a UAE-1ADF header, i. e. even for every partial image, if s > 0! This is awkward, as there is no way anymore to *simply* concatenate these three parts Toni ... might there be any way to just CHOP OFF the header from the 2nd and 3rd image and then assemble the three again? If so, how many bytes do I have to chop off then? TIA... Last edited by andreas; 23 September 2005 at 12:09. |

This would be really interesting...
(the possibility to take some tracks from different extended adf files and merge them together in a destination extended adf file) |

apart if the track to merge comes from a game that comes from a different revision.
It won't work then. |

It isn't possible to simply concatenate two extended (raw) adf images, because the length of each track is not fixed. The header contains information about the type and length of each track in the image, even if it's only partial.
In order to merge two images you need to merge their headers as well. I have some python code which I've used successfully to merge two extended adfs, and even to replace tracks from one extended adf with tracks from another. The python code is an attachment to a post in this thread: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=41479 |

Hi Redwood ,
I remember your posts . I don't understand python at all ... wouldn't it be possible to have your algorythm written in a more understandable language? |
