Devpac Developer was an expensive version of Devpac that allowed debugging between machines, which required hardware on both ends. Hardware for Atari and Amiga was produced, and it was effectively a fast parallel port. The Developer version of the assembler included 68020 instruction support as I recall. The developer version also used the hardware as a dongle and would not run without it.
One of the first things I did after leaving HiSoft was create a program that used the 68020 MMU tables to fake out the hardware, so I could use the Developer version. |
