Name the arcade game
Does anyone remember a racing game in the arcades around 1999-2000 which was a third person perspective job where you could choose from a car or vehicles such as a coach or truck. The cabinet I had a go on was two player.
You could drive how you wanted and smash stuff up but eventually the cops got onto you, although the coach and truck took some stopping - you could just plough through everything. It was great fun in a badass way. Graphics were something like PS2 level, and realism style rather than cartoon. |

Good shout but it wasn't that one, that was a great game but it was truck only. This one you could have car/truck/coach.
It was something to do with road rage, that figures in the name I think but it's not Rage Racer or anything like that. |

It's not Cruisin' USA, is it?
When you mentioned the coach, it was the first game I thought of. |

I've spent ages searching the web now and can't find anything. I seem to remember it had tense screechy music and when you hit something there was the sound of people screaming. |

OffTopic: Cruisin' USA and Cruisin' World are originally arcade games.
You could try this search engine. It's just for games in MAME, but then it already supports loads of game. You could be lucky: http://maws.mameworld.info/maws |

That second link was useful though as I found a game with a list of recommendations and one of them was Thrill Drive. It's looking like it was one of the Thrill Drive series !!!! Checking vids on youtube to work out which, might well be Thrill Drive 2. Last edited by Parsec; 20 January 2011 at 11:26. |

Yup this was it, you can see the vehicle selection screen with the bus and truck!
[ Show youtube player ] It's listed on MAME but not working yet. It will take some work as well looking at the hardware spec of the arcade machine. |

And need a PC that won't exist for another ten years. That's Mamedev for you.
