Snow Bros: Is Amiga version broken?

Hi all,

Last night I had an Arcade/Amiga gaming rush so I went on for a good dose of arcade conversion.
I wanted to try something new, so I chose Snow Bros and there I went, holding my Competition Pro, making it clank and clunk, all happy.

I know this game was never officially released and it's lucky we finally got such a nice-looking conversion on the Amiga, but there's a BIG problem with this version: when I partially freeze an enemy, other enemies can overlap him and get me, thus killing the poor snowman hero!
That's WRONG, very wrong! A lot of the arcade playability was based around the fact that enemies couldn't pass through partially frozen ones, so you could protect yourself behind and then just blow up every enemy in a single strike, thus accessing the money bonus.
So, what's wrong with Amiga version? Any idea?

Yep same here, and since I've never played the arcade version it's all good for me.

I have never played either the arcade version or the amiga port, and i just tested out the amiga version on my a600 and wow, what a great little game, I like it even more then Bubble bobble.
(And even if it does play differently to the arcade version in which i still have yet to play, the amiga version is very playable in it's own right).

The game is awesome, of course it is!
But a lot of the playability from the arcade was based on this missing detail. I found it strange that this detail was lost, because it's not something that would need anything special to be implemented, so being an Ocean France conversion (these guys were probably among the best Amiga game programers EVER), I don't get why these awesome guys didn't do it right.

Even if that could not say much, remember that this was an unreleased game, and at some point even if apparently in finished form, some bugs could remain. So a bug or a feature? We will never know by ourselves.

Hmmm... Could be. But this has little impact on dificulty: it just makes harder to get the bonus of each level, not the game itself, I guess.
