Simpsons Arcade C64 working image?
Hi. Anyone out there have a working image of the Simpsons Arcade game for the C64?
Ive tried lots of different ones including the latest gamesbase V12 images. but on real hardware (Breadbin C64) I either get to the crack screen or it just goes black.a I know the game was released in the US only but Ive got the game running on PAL in VICE. Ive also tried loading the game with and without my Final Cartridge III plugged in. Ive ran the game of my sd2iec and transferred the image to a real floppy with CBM-Command and then loading it from a 1541. Still no luck. Anyone out there know of a working image out there that runs on real hardware? Thanks Asked over at Lemon64 but didn't have much luck. |

Have you tried the ones on CSDb?
http://csdb.dk/search/?seinsel=relea...&Go.x=0&Go.y=0 I tried the Genesis Project/Mirage release and works in PAL on WinVICE! |

Hi. Ive tried all these running from the sd2iec with and without the FC3 plugged in. Still goes blank after crack screen and then nothing.
I can get versions running in vice no problem. Trying to find someone who has successfully ran this game on real hardware through an sd card or using floppies. Then I need to know what images were used. Someone over at lemon claimed to get it running on a real 64 but they never got back to me with the image info. Cheers |

Just tried this version on my C64G PAL+1541 II. It doesn't like hardware fastloaders (the mentioned black screen) but besides that it works fine here.

Hi. What did you see straight after the "unlimited lifes for both playes" crack screen.
Did you get black for a bit or did it go straight to the intro? |

Using the Retro Replay (EasyFlash 3) fastloader enabled i get a black screen after unlimited lives (y/n). Without fastloader in plain basic it loads directly into the intro.

ok. Ive downloaded your version and put it on the sd2iec and ive killed the fastloader.
I load the game and now it gets past the blank screen and all i get is a ready prompt. The same happens for the floppies ive made using CBM-Command. Since you said you got it working I'm at a loss?!? |

Won't run for me from floppy using PAL C64 + 1541, just dumps you to a ready prompt after the trainer screen! Just wondering if these releases were ever PAL fixed? The intro has the word 'PAL' in the bottom right corner!!

It's not unusual that certain cracks won't run properly on specific hardware. Maybe you guys should try a 1541-II or just a different C64 model if available. I'm too lazy to test the other cracks on CSDb yet.

Tried another floppy drive, 1541-II, but it still dumps to DOS after the trainer! Seems we need a new PAL fixed crack for this one!
* Just tried a NIB converted to D64 and still won't load on my PAL C64 with 1541 or 1541-II. Last edited by BarryB; 31 January 2015 at 14:06. |

@trydowave. I've uploaded the converted D64 images plus the manual protection code sheet into the Zone. Last edited by Retro-Nerd; 31 January 2015 at 14:45. |

The only thing I can think of then is Jiffydos being the culprit! I tried with it disabled on both C64 and 1541/1541-II but still won't work!

I assume you don't don't have C64C or G models with Assy 469 for a test?

No! I only have two c64's, both are Breadbins, I'll try the other one and see what happens!
* Nope! Looks like both my C64's are not playing this, short of removing Jiffydos and putting the original ROMS back in the C64/1541 will be the only way to eliminate Jiffydos! Last edited by BarryB; 31 January 2015 at 15:32. |

Don't you have a switch to enable/disable JiffyDOS like ones Jim Brain sells ?

Ok. Just tried to load floppy from my 1541 on a C64C and it only got to the ready prompt.
Maybe the 1541 is the prob? |

Hi. I tried your originals on my C64c (without fastloader) both on my sd2iec and I copied it to floppy twice on different disks.
I still only get to the ready prompt. So weve established that these images work fine on your C64c but not on mine. I can only imagine that this is a problem game (for which there seem to be many) for the sd2iec or my 1541 somehow isn't working (which is strange because its copied many other games perfectly fine). bizarre!!!! |
