Scoopex did what???? First release of 2021????

Ah, so you've stumbled onto this thread and thought "wow, I bet this is going to be REALLY good"....... You couldn't be more wrong.

It's Psygnosis/Psyclape at not necessarily its best, some quite irritating game mechanics, but rather hoping that those Justin Bieber fans at Flashtro will get off their arses and train it, I left them enough room after all!!

So..... you're getting all flustered, you're itching to know what it is.....

STRYX 100%

Yeah I know, sorry, it can't be great news. This one was badly cracked by not only Red Sector but also Quartex. Only found out about this one recently, but for anyone that cares, its now done.

Both groups missed the checksums in the game which meant that doors wouldn't open and something else wouldn't work properly.

Protection was a shabby Atari ST MFM inspired format with only $1400 sized tracks which is entirely weird, track check, and the aforementioned checksums.

Originally on two disks, now cracked and compacted to 1 disk, retaining EVERYTHING, game has been playtested by KREMISO, and he found a file bug which was fixed.

Shiny new cracktro, with masma music by Estrayk.

No AGA fixing for this one, just a crack, if you're desperate, get the WHDLoad version.

In the zone you shall find your file: SCX_STRYX.ADF

Enjoy..... or not!

Happy New Year 2021

Nice one, Happy New Year too

I gather the 'file bug' was introduced as a result of it being cracked to 1 disk and subsequntly caught during playtesting?

Yup, one of the files was packed incorrectly so it caused the game to crash when it tried to depack, re-ripped and packed properly and its fixed.

Nice example of proper playtesting, if only some AAA developers did the same

Yeah, unfortunately that will be the case.

It seems even Psygnosis were kinda "meh" about it. In the intro it says "Psygnosis Proudly Presents", by the time you get into the game its now "Psyclapse" which was their budget and release label for stuff they didn't think was deserving of a Psygnosis release.

It's clear this was a dual Atari ST/Amiga release, and there's nothing Amiga about it at all.

The intro of Stryx (the psygnosis one) is still etched into my head now and i remember people wondering if it was a spiritual sequel to obliterator - big tough guy very delicate with devices

The game itself sucks...but I will say that the intro to the game is what convinced me to buy an Amiga 500 back in 1990 and kiss my C64 goodbye (sadly, I had to sell it and all my drives and disks to buy the Amiga).

I have always presumed that RSI just took Quartex's crack, trained it and making it ADOS.

Had a friend that loved the game intro. The ending was pretty lame though.

Nice new release!
