Vga to Ega?

I was wondering if it is possible to force a VGA only game to display EGA colors in Dosbox.
Is it? Through effects or hrough tweaking, or in any way?
I would like to play Eye of the Beholder 3 in 16 colors only.

If I remember correctly EGA & VGA graphics were in separated files, so no, it's not possible if you have only VGA files.

that is true, but isn't it possible to use a layer to interpret colors?

That would involve degrading the image, which a filter could be written for.
