Nebulus vs Nebulus 2 - Which Is Best?

Hi everyone and welcome to the October 2017 edition of the Which Is Best?
Last month I placed two Amiga classic pinball tables against each other asking which in your minds was the better table, they were Nightmare from Dreams and Stones 'n Bones from Fantasies, I can now reveal Nightmare just took it by 15 votes to Stones n' Bones 14, so sooo close.

This month I'm going to place the two Amiga A500 Nebulus games against each other, which do you think is the better game?!, only your votes will determine that,...happy voting! :-D

I thought that Nebulus was very good - simple, playable and addictive. Nebulus 2 is a good example of a game that had too many new features added, resulting in a much larger game (4 disks instead of 1/4 of a disk). Now you had to collect and use objects in specific ways while trying to get to the top of the tower while avoiding enemies.I guess they thought this added to the fun. I thought it was unnecessary. And now you get to wait a few minutes for it to load each tower. Nebulus was a single-load game.

I was looking forward to Nebulus 2 and was very disappointed.

I never played Nebulus 2, but the idea is to have items to be used in certain parts of the level WITH THE SAME DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF THE FIRST GAME?

If it's so, it gotta be one of the most frustrating games ever. Nebulus was frigging hard without having to guess/find out where to use items.

Maybe the question should be "which is worse". Man, these were frustrating games!

Nebulus the original I loved it, could get to the third tower without time cheats. The second one was the most frustrating thing I ever played took me several turns to get beyond the first few platforms. Stupidly setup and ridiculously difficult.

I always found both these games impossibly difficult. I usually managed to play it for 5 minutes at a time before rage quitting commenced. Lol

Nebulus for nostalgia reasons, although I felt it never deserved a full game, it was more a subgame for something else.

Too hard too quickly, but for 1988, very polished and looked a marked step above what was being released on 8bits.

Nebulus 2 was much better overall presentation, but they took an OK game concept and stretched it further than the gameplay allowed.

Nebulus 1 for me. Nostalgia reasons I guess.

I always wondered if I'm a bit simple for liking these games which rely totally on the player's memory. :-)

Nebulus was great. The second one was far to awkward.

+1 for the original Nebulous also

...as others have said, the 2nd one was way too hard so I wouldn't play for more than 5 minutes before being utterly frustrated

Nebulus 1 for sure. But only on the C64. Still a stunning rotary effect, on the Amiga not so much.

Nebulus 1 for its simplicity. Nebulus 2 is great, but the options are not that well explained or described. Since the game is already hard, it makes the game even more difficult.

Nebulus 1 is a great game and I spent a lot of time playing it (mostly the C64 version but Amiga version was nice too). I never could get into Nebulus 2, it just wasn't fun to play for me.

I've never played Nebulus 1 back in the days, but I enjoyed Nebulus 2 very much. Although it was frustrating at times. Finishing it is one of my greatest gaming achievements.

That was when I was young and had more time to spare than games to play. I couldn't afford to buy games and only had access to a few games that I could copy from class mates.
Now I'm older and time is more precious and I can play any game I want.

Other games that I put a lot of time in were The Adams Family, Rick Dangerous and P.P. Hammer. Also very challenging games.

What's wrong with you lot?! Complaining Nebulus was hard?!,...I can complete it using 1 life without cheats on many versions :-D, here's the proof on the zx version anyway: [ Show youtube player ]
P.s, if you do watch this please forgive my boasting, it's because this is a series of challenges between me and another gamer,...we like to wind each other up when we win,...all in good jest of course ;-D

I got a feeling Neb1 will win this but we still may have some Neb2 fans waiting to vote :-)

IT'S NOW OVER, THE RESULT: NEBULUS 1 - 14 VOTES, NEBULUS 2 - 2 VOTES, NEBULUS 1 THE CLEAR WINNER,...PROBABLY DUE TO THE DIFFICULTY OF NEBULUS 2 WHICH TURNED VOTERS AWAY FROM IT.

November edition now up :-D (check the posts in the threads).
