Death Trap intro technical details?

Just curious as always, as not programmer
I always thought it was a bit of a disappointment to run the effective game after this cool intro/non intro.
Sort of Shadow of the Beast or Wrath of the Demon, but full-screen, on OCS.

what's behind this? nothing special or some piece of code that could be interesting to look at? LOOOONG shot, usable in a real game?

At a guess it's using dual playfield, palette swaps and sprites (and some blitting).

Similar to Shadow of the beast yes.

I can see no reason why it could not be part of the game, odd if they never use it anywhere.

odd indeed, it seems a damn good piece of code

i like a lot the smooth transition between day, sunset and night, without interruptions

maybe it was already extreme for the ocs, as it was?

Maybe it was a demo for an engine which was not picked up and the programmer just wanted to use it in the Amiga port of this game. Are you sure it's not used later in the game? I can find no longplay of this Amiga game.

i would have liked it too
but sadly seems used just like an attract mode (and it works for sure also in this way)

i have completed the game back in the day, i don't remember nothing like that into the real game

on the tube, seems there is just this longplay, splitted in parts :
