Workbench icons not stretched - which screenmode to use?
What is the best screen mode to use where you can get a larger screen without your icons getting stretched?
For instance I used PAL interlaced, which is ok (as it doesn't stretch the icons), but I don't like the interlace effect. Is there a screenmode which is a decent size AND doesn't stretch the icons? (plus, I already know about MagicWB but I don't like the appearance of the icons) |

Which hardware (or WinUAE) do you use?
If you don't like interlaced, you could use XTREME 640x512 which is non-interlaced. Refresh rate is lower though so the mouse is not very smooth. |

I'm using a real A1200 with accelerator and an Indivision AGA MkII.
Cool, I'll try Xtreme 640x512 and give that a go. I've got Superplus as well but it appears way too large - ie parts of my screen are hidden with it. |

Are you using the newest core for the Indivision? If not, then you should try that. Helps with a lot of things. Superplus also works fine for me on the MkII without any cropping. 640x512 is the highest you can go without interlacing though.

Here they are saying that SuperPlus works on the old core, not the new one:
http://eab.abime.net/news/55980-deta...uters-113.html "Yep SuperPlus really is the best mode for a real AGA machine, with the new core I've had to go back to 640x512 PAL. The image is very nice and stable but it all looks a bit small after I've got use to SuperPlus 800x600 with the original core." |
