My understanding was that uaegfx wasn't needed anymore. Install the latest P96 onto your emulated Amiga, and then just select uaegfx in the config in WinUAE or FSUAE before starting the emulation and it just works - the emulator injects whats needed to give you all available screenmodes via the wb prefs tool.

uaegfx driver from P96 package (Picasso96Install/devs/monitors/Picasso96 + .info) is still required in DEVS:Monitors (I renamed it UAEgfx in the picture below).
The driver icon (.info) is required to store custom settings. Instead I use no custom monitor config as reported by SYS:Prefs/Picasso96Mode.

P.S.
I use WinUAE: RTG board = UAE [ZorroIII].

You're right, it's there here too (but I don't remember copying it there, and I definitely only installed a recent P96 version).

I'm a wee bit confused now

[edit] Right, remembering now - i read this and followed the instructions: http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/P96#Operat...tion_under_UAE

Do not select *any* graphics card when installing P96. It will then place a monitor file named "Generic" into devs:Monitors, which you can rename, and whose tool types you can edit to select the right card.

I suggest to add this info to the installation procedure to inform users...

May I ask why this is required? Why not just have a uaegfx checkbox to do basically this? It's not installing the .card file or anything, seems pretty straightforward?

Because it is a third party product, and I cannot include installation information for all third party products. There are more P96 drivers out there that are not part of the P96 core archive, and it does not make sense to service some of them, but not others.

The rule is very simple: The installer can install any driver that comes with the distribution. If you want to install a driver of a third party product, it's part of this third party distribution to include an installer for its own products. It may, for example, pick up the "Generic" driver and rename and/or update it.

Eh, I guess my response here would be the "market share" of people using UAE is far greater than any other graphics card.

And for that larger market share, whereby installation has become more difficult than it was previously, maybe there's not a ton of incentive to invest in further P96 development.

*shrug*

I think I've found an incompatibility with latest P96:
HOTAR (Heart of the Alien Redux) for Amiga.
When you set from prefs Force native res the game opens correctly in PAL/NTSC but gfx is trashed (like when you try to display fastmem).

Someone can confirm?

EDIT: ah! Got an idea...
Indeed, it was the option 'Planes to fast'! Once disabled the game starts correctly also in native res.

Sorry for me not reading this whole thread;

But will the P96 v.3.2.4 fully work with OS 3.9 system ?

Certainly. Requirement is Os 3.0, and 3.9 is above that.

Oh, I see.
Would a Picasso IV card system benefit from
the upgrade significantly !?

Upgrade from which version? If from version 2.x on the Aminet, then yes, it does. The P-IV supports not only screen dragging, it also supports mode sharing for some modes, i.e. you can even drag (with the latest release) a hi-color screen over a chunky screen and vice versa. This is something only the fewest cards can deliver.

Ok, the new version of P96 purchased, downloaded & installed.
Hopefully, this is an improvement on the old 2.x Aminet version;
and surely it has to be !

Thank You,

P96 development Team,
Thomas, Jens from iComp and all others !

P96 V 3.31 Bvision issue.

Just downloaded the latest version off Icomp. Testing out on Blizzard 603p 060 with Bvision card. 3.1.4 ROMs, 3.141 AOS fresh install, switch control in C: for Ratte Monitor switcher (SS has C:SwitchControl). 68060 ThorMMU lib only in Libs:

System also has Icomp AGA Flickerfixer MK 3.

Have run setup then rebooted, but keeping getting a black screen. Only way to stop it is to move out CVision monitor file out of Devs:monitors

Running P96mode in prefs works fine without CVision. But with CVision file in Devs:monitors, double clicking said monitor file brings up black screen.
Have managed to to get P96mode working once by double clicking CVision in monitors manually after moving it in Devs:monitors after a reboot and then attaching. Unfortunately when testing modes it either hangs or black screens.

I know Bvision and abPPC works as I have successfully using Cybergraphx on a main build without issue.

Thoughts?

The effects sound very similiar to what I experienced with modern P96 and Warp 1260's gfx.
Needed to revert back to 2.x

Since when does 2.0x have a driver for the cybervisionPPC? Besides, why don't you report bugs at the icomp side? This is not the right place. The driver interface did not change, btw.

Can do Thomas Only posted it up here Bromigo! Just in case someone else had this issue and could point me in the right direction.

Will be playing with it some more today, so if I managed to fix the issue will reports back here.

Not a daft question Bromigo! Only copied over the 68060.library to keep 3.141 happy

Will be playing about some more with it today.
