Nice Frogger game...

Hi!

Here is a "Coming Soon" article from a local ex-Yugoslav magazine "Svet Kompjutera" from 1991 ...

Rough translation of the important bits:

Peter Molyneux tought up the game and graphician Paul McLaughlin drew up a few screens in DPaint. It should have 32 colours, good animation and responsive controls. The game would use a "code" system to randomly generate levels.

Was this ever completed ???

It was probably abandoned at an early stage. However, Amiga Power issue 6 has a basic version of Frogger that was done by Bullfrog. It's probably all that exists of the game.

There's an article about this in ACE magazine number 48 (September 1991), where Molyneux explains all his (pretty stupid, IMHO) ideas for the game.

As he designed it, it wouldn't have been a game I want to play, but the graphics would have been gorgeous, I love that 'cutesy' style (you don't really see this style much, at least done in these hand-pixelled, juicy lores pixels).

Could've been an interesting game, but I think his ideas were just so incredibly badly thought-out, I didn't like almost any of them.

However, I hope someone revives that cutesy pixel style for some other game, demo or whatnot (I am planning to make a similarly styled, but closer to 'Spy Hunter' graphics type 'screensaver' with traffic going back and forth and reacting to itself), and creates something exciting with it.
